India says Pakistan ISI involved in Train Bombings

From the BBC:

Pakistan 'role in Mumbai attacks'
Train bombings wreckage
Seven blasts hit Mumbai's busy commuter network
Pakistan's intelligence agency was behind the train blasts in Mumbai in July that killed 186 people, Indian police say.

The attacks were planned by the ISI and carrieBd out by the Islamist militant group Lashkar-e-Toiba, based in Pakistan, Mumbai's police chief said.

AN Roy said the Students' Islamic Movement of India had also assisted.

Pakistan rejected the allegations and said India had given no evidence of Pakistani involvement in the attacks.

"We have solved the 11 July bombings case. The whole attack was planned by Pakistan's ISI and carried out by Lashkar-e-Toiba and their operatives in India," Mumbai (Bombay) police commissioner AN Roy told a news conference.

And the Beat Goes On.

Mexico Rattles it Tail

Mexico warned Thursday that the U.S. proposal to build miles of border fence will damage relations between the two countries. The Foreign Relations Department said it was "deeply worried" about the proposal, which is working its way through the Senate, adding it will "increase tension in border communities."

Shadow Government?

Over at The Elephant Bar, my friend WHIT speaks of Transnational Progressivism. Capitalism is the best system humans have come up with yet. It spreads and shares wealth and engenders entrepreneurship so well that it makes debunked communists blush. While all good free traders love and adore making money, it can come with a heavy price. If we're not careful, the North American Union and the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America could be a freedom-destroying boondoggle.

7-Eleven Dumps Citgo!

Just announced on Bud Hedinger's afternoon radio show in Orlando, Florida!

The 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores will not renew their contract with Hugo Chavez and the Venezuelan owned oil conglomerate, Citgo.

A 7-Eleven representative told Bud that the company has decided not to renew the contract, which ends before year's end. They will provide gasoline under a 7-Eleven brand instead.

... will report more as it develops!

Mr. Hedinger has obtained a copy of a letter from Janey Carpenter, Manager of Consumer Affairs that states 7-11 Stores are ending their 20-year supply agreement with CITGO Petroleum Corp. According to Carpenter, the contract ends next week and 7-11 is now making the switch to its own branded gasoline. The company says the change has nothing to do with derogatory comments made last week by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez at the United Nations. Nevertheless, 7/11 Stores will begin selling in October gas provided by US companies, such as Tower Energy Group in Torrance, CA., Sinclair Oil of Salt Lake City and Frontier Oil Corp of Houston. Carpenter says the signs will start to change, with CITGO signs coming down from the stores' gas canopy and off gasoline dispensers. More than 2,100 stores are affected. While most of the signs will be changed by end of '07, not all CITGO signs will be off gas canopies until '08.

The Dominoes Are Falling - Can You Hear Them?

Many, many years ago I met a young man working at a local computer store. We struck up a conversation about his homeland, Morocco. The fellow was intelligent and sincere, hard working and decent. His dream was to return to Morocco, after getting his degree in business, and establishing his country's largest computer sales franchise. I wished him the best and asked him to remember me when he became famous. That was almost 30 years ago.

Now, his country is becoming the latest to fall to the extremists. For those people who argue we would create more Radical Islamists by being more aggressive now, rather than waiting for later - well, shove it up your Neville ASS. I wonder how my friend is doing?

... will Libya be next - and we thought Khadaffi was bad?

Does Our Level of Success In the W.O.T. Equal Our Efforts?

"You can hardly read a story about Iraq these days without seeing an Army or Marine officer say he doesn't have enough troops to accomplish his mission. Senior officers respond that this is what junior commanders always say. That's not quite true. Commanders in charge of secondary missions often ask for more resources than they need, not recognizing their missions are less vital. But the calls for more troops in Iraq come from soldiers training Iraqis, from soldiers trying to secure Baghdad, from soldiers in Anbar. If all of these are secondary missions, where's the main effort? The truth is there are not enough ground forces in Iraq, and military officers are finally saying so in public."

... I've pretty much agreed with most that Bill Kristol has said, in this article, and others. Unlike his pal, Fred Barnes, Kristol seems to be a free-thinking conservative, not a republican "Monika". What's a "Monika"? Well ... it's someone who constantly sucks on ... you get the picture!

Army considers more combat units for Iraq - from the Washington Times - support for Kristol?

Are these people worth the effort?

... what Kristol doesn't say is that the level of "unsuccess" in Iraq and Afghanistan is, in fact, directly related to our efforts. Our Troops are being held back by their political leaders. More Troops, larger Army? OK ... but lets allow them to do the job!

IS BUSH "WAGGING THE DOG?" Or, is he just a "Neville"?

How Much Wealth Is Your Freedom Worth?

"What we need to do," Pastor instructed, "is forge a new North American Community. ... Instead of stopping North Americans on the borders, we ought to provide them with a secure, biometric border pass that would ease transit across the border like an E-Z pass permits our cars to speed through tolls."

... are you willing to become adherent citizens to a North American Union? Clinton may have been side-tracked by Monika - does that mean Bush's efforts to erase the borders is side-tracked by the W.O.T., which he is "reluctantly" fighting? Don't agree? Why did Rumsfeld attend the ECONOMIC conference? Isn't he too busy?

The Now Known Unknown Soldier

Pentagon IDs Soldier's Remains From WWI
By ROBERT BURNS, AP Military Writer

Fri Sep 22, 6:09 PM

WASHINGTON - Eighty-eight years after he fell in battle near the Marne River east of Paris, the remains of U.S. Army Pvt. Francis Lupo have been recovered and identified by the Pentagon.

Lupo, of Cincinnati, was killed on July 21, 1918, during an attack on German forces near Soissons, France. His remains were discovered by a French archaeologist in 2003 and identified by scientists from the Pentagon's Joint POW-MIA Accounting Command and the Armed Forces DNA Identification Laboratory.

He is the first World War I casualty to be recovered and identified by the special command.

The Pentagon announced on Friday that Lupo will be buried on Tuesday at Arlington National Cemetery.

Jacque the Crock

Once again Chirac has undermined efforts to bring the Iranians inline:
Then on Monday Jacques Chirac went to New York to upend the long, delicate diplomacy designed to deny Iran nuclear weapons. He said France no longer thought the UN should impose sanctions if Iran did not end its uranium enrichment programme.
Various explanations were offered by commentators for this volte-face — from the thought that France might be fearful of the economic consequences of sanctions, to the possibility that M Chirac was trying to curry favour with sanctions-opposing Russia and China, to the suggestion that Paris worries that its new peacekeeping force in Lebanon might come under fire from Hezbollah if France acted tough with its Iranian sponsors.
How long must we endure this man? How many times is he going to stab us in the back?

Newt Gingrich on Immigration Reform

This morning on the way to work, I heard Newt Gingrich on the Lars Larson Show.
Newt was making more sense on immigration than anyone else that I had heard so I went to his web site. He says that comprehensive immigration reform involves the implementation of eleven policies:
1. Gain complete control of the borders and coasts. We have the technology and the capability to control border crossings. We simply need the will to enforce it. This may require tripling the Border Patrol, building fences where necessary and using electronic surveillance elsewhere but it is clearly doable. As a matter of national survival it must be done..

2. Enforce the Law.
With lax federal enforcement of the laws along the borders as well as against employers who hire illegal workers, it is not surprising that many cities across the country are raising a white flag in the fight against illegal immigration. The corrosion of the rule of law that began on the border and which has spread to so many American businesses now also touches some of our largest cities. Declaring themselves “sanctuary cities”, these lawless cities are prohibiting their police from asking about immigration status and enforcing employment laws (a “don’t ask, don’t enforce” policy that encourages breaking the law).

3. Use Technology to Keep Track of Who Enters the Country.
A bio-metric identifier, such as a thumbprint and/or embedded iris scan shall be required from everyone entering the United States from abroad, as well as a background check that screens out those with a criminal record. Foreign governments that want their citizens to participate in a worker visa program will be required to turn over records of convicted felons as quickly as they currently collect this data, or on a monthly basis, whichever is fastest.

4. Establish a Worker Visa Program.
Along with total border control, we need to make it easier for people to get work visas to enter the country legally and to work here at a specific job for a set of period of time and as long as they obey the law. We need a worker visa program that ensures that work visa holders pay taxes, get driver’s licenses, buy auto insurance, abide by the law. Such a program will also filter out criminals and potential terrorists, which is why we will require from foreign governments a continually updated list of their criminals.
Required Elements of a Worker Visa Program. As a part of this program, every work visa holder will be required to:
a. Carry a “smart card” with a photograph and bio-metric identifier, like a thumbprint and/or an embedded retinal scan that will be entered into a database so that their presence in the United States can be validated;
b. Sign an agreement in which the work visa holder agrees to pay taxes, obey the law, and waive any rights to appeal his or her removal from the United States within 72 hours for violating their agreement; and
c. Open and maintain an account at any U.S. financial institution with an American Bankers Association routing number into which employers of work visa holders will be required to electronically deposit their wages. No bank account, no smart card.

5. Zero Tolerance for Amnesty. As Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger put it so eloquently in a Los Angeles Times op-ed on March 28, “We can embrace the immigrant without endorsing illegal immigration. Granting citizenship to people who are here illegally is not just amnesty ... it's anarchy. We are a country of immigrants, yes. But we are also a nation of laws. People who want to be citizens will want to do it the right way.”

6. Dramatically Increase H1B and H2B Visas.
We should have an increase in H1B visas (and H2Bs also), so we have enough workers. We should provide a preference for anyone with a Masters or PhD degree. Preferences for these workers should ensure a brain drain into the United States from other countries. H1B and H2B visas should be issued in response to employment opportunities.

7. Deportation Law Reform. Change laws to permit removal of people here illegally within 72-96 hours of being picked up. The courts are simply wrong to suggest that the 14th amendment applies to those who are here illegally. We need to change the laws to permit prompt removal of people entering the country illegally. It is utterly irrational that 90% of certain groups of people here illegally who are apprehended are lost in the Court system and are never sent home.

8. Citizenship Reform.
The worker visa program should not be an automatic qualification for citizenship, though eventual citizenship could be held out as an opportunity. While many work visa holders will have no intention of becoming American citizens, for those workers and their families who qualify and wish to become citizens, we should carefully consider how to help patriotically integrate them. Our country has a rich history of immigration. It has been a primary source of our creativity and our prosperity. We should continue to strongly encourage those who want to become citizens, but it is important that we accept only those who want to embrace American values and culture. There is no such thing as a genetic American. To become an American citizen means becoming an American in values, culture, and historic understanding.

9. Require a Written Test in English of American History for any Legal Immigrant Who Wishes to Become a Citizen and Meets all Qualification Criteria. I strongly favor legal immigrants becoming American citizens. This has been a primary source of the creativity and prosperity of America. For those who want to become citizens, we must require that they take a test about American history in English.

10. Extensive Communications Campaign Domestically and Internationally by U.S. Authorities about the New U.S. Immigration Policies. A comprehensive immigration reform plan will only work if people understand it. There must be a substantial emphasis on the communications strategies that will be employed to explain the details of this program both at home and abroad.

11. Positive U.S. Approach to Latin America. Once a comprehensive immigration reform is adopted, the U.S. should make a concerted effort to explain its details to governments throughout Latin America and make it clear in no uncertain terms that the United States will not take kindly to any action by a foreign government that seeks to actively undermine our laws. In addition, U.S. diplomats should make clear that the U.S. government stands for greater safety, health, prosperity, and freedom for every person in the hemisphere and that its policies are devoted to that end. The U.S. should also aggressively promote the adoption of reforms in other countries in the Americas that are aimed at reducing corruption and promoting greater economic opportunities for their citizens.

Tony Blankley on the Pope and Kissinger

This was a good column by Tony Blankley:

"But there are some signs that the early stage of moral confusion is beginning to give way to greater clarity. Last week, two towering intellects -- Pope Benedict XVI and Henry Kissinger -- began to offer clarity. On Tuesday, the pope gave his now famous, but still misunderstood, lecture at the University of Regensburg. And on Wednesday, Kissinger published a half-page seminal article on the risk of civilizational war in The Washington Post. "

While not the pope, Henry Kissinger is the world's premier practitioner and scholar of realpolitik. So it is consequential that in his article last week, he warned the world that "we are witnessing a carefully conceived assault, not isolated terrorist attacks, on the international system of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity. The creation of organizations such as Hezbollah and al-Qaida symbolizes the fact that transnational loyalties are replacing national ones. The driving force behind this challenge is the jihadist conviction that it is the existing order that is illegitimate."

He went on to warn: "The debate sparked by the Iraq war over American rashness vs. European escapism is dwarfed by what the world now faces ... the common danger of a wider war merging into a war of civilizations against the backdrop of a nuclear-armed Middle East. ... We now know that we face the imperative of building a new world order or potential global catastrophe."

These are shocking words coming from the verbally impeccably careful diplomatist.

So, within 24 hours the pope raises the question of whether Islam is inherently violent and unreasonable, while Kissinger warns of a possible emerging nuclear clash of civilizations.

Moral clarity, anyone?

American Hiroshima

Glenn Beck, today talked to Hamid Mir , a Pakistani journalist (and the only person to interview Osama bin-Laden after 9/11.) Mir has an interesting story about how he was warned to get out of Aghanistan because al-Qaeda and the Taliban have lined up 600 suicide bombers. The most interesting thing about what Mir is saying these days though that not only was Mir warned by the new al-Qaeda field commander in Afghanistan, Abu Dawood, to leave, but Dawood is also calling for Muslims to leave the U.S. – particularly Washington and New York – prior to a major terror attack. Hamid Mir said that Abu Dawood told him that the attack is being coordinated by Adnan el-Shukrijumah and involves WMD that has already been smuggled across the Mexican border. Mir said on Glenn Beck’s radio program today that the three recent bombings seem to bear out the warning about the suicide bombers in Aghanistan. Mir says that the attack could be imminent because bin-Laden has fulfilled the cycle of warnings required by the Koran.

From the Sep 1, Patriot Post:

Hamid Mir, the famed Pakistani journalist who obtained the only post-9/11 interviews with Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri, believes a nuclear attack against the United States is on the horizon, to be coordinated by the cleric-fascist state of Iran and its terrorist surrogate, al-Qa'ida. "Al-Qa'ida and Iran have a long, secret relationship," Mir says, and they've named their plans for a nuclear attack on the U.S.---using nuclear devices that Mir believes they already possess ---"American Hiroshima."

The association between Iran and al-Qa'ida, Mir says, dates to June 1996, when bin Laden joined other jihadist leaders in Tehran to discuss their goals. Others in attendance included Muhammad Ali Ahmad of al-Qa'ida, Imad al-Alami and Mustafa al-Liddawi of Hamas, Ahmad Jibril of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Egyptian Islamic Jihad's Ahmad Salah, Palestinian Islamic Jihad's Ramadan Shallah, Hizballah's Imad Mugniyah and Abdallah Ocalan of the Kurdish People Party. The meeting, says Mir, produced the "Committee of Three," consisting of bin Laden, Salah and Mugniyah, who would be responsible for the "coordination, planning and execution of attacks" on the U.S. and Israel. Shortly thereafter, on 23 August 1996, bin Laden issued his fatwa, "Declaration of War on Americans Occupying the Country of the Two Holy Places."

In one interview with Mir, bin Laden boasts, "It is not difficult [to obtain tactical nuclear devices], not if you have contacts in Russia with other militant groups. They are available for $10 million and $20 million." At the time, bin Laden claimed already to be in possession of such devices, and Mir believes that they may already be forward-deployed within the United States. While this information is, of course, not confirmable, and may be no more than enemy misinformation, it is plausible.

For these reasons---the nature of our enemy's threat and his determination to see our destruction---the only applicable defense is the doctrine of pre-emption.
After the bizarre, UN performances of Amadinejad and Chavez there may be more nervous Americans agreeing with the pre-emption sentiment.
In a side note: Amadinejad and Chavez received warmer receptions at the UN General Assembly than did George Bush. Fasten your seatbelts!

The Oracle in a Whirlwind

Orianna Fallaci has died and we are left with a memory of a flashing image of an oracle in a whirlwind. For some of us, she was an oracle briefly appearing in a nightmarish maelstrom to deliver an ominous warning of danger. She tried to warn a decadent, distracted West of the impending dangers of Islam. For her bravery, her native country rewarded her with the threat of prosecution for the act of “vilifying” a religion. In her final days of life she defied Italian authorities and died in her Italy.

Pope Benedicts XVI this week quoted from a book recounting a conversation between 14th century Byzantine Christian Emperor Manuel Paleologos II and a Persian scholar on the truths of Christianity and Islam.
"The emperor comes to speak about the issue of jihad, holy war," the pope said. "He said, I quote, 'Show me just what Muhammad brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.'"
According to Salih Kapusuz, a deputy leader of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's party, the Pope “…is going down in history in the same category as leaders such as (Adolf) Hitler and (Benito) Mussolini." Muslims are outraged and their leaders are demanding an apology.

George Bush and Tony Blair have attempted many times since 9/11 to warn of the Islamist peril and to prepare their nations for the long commitment towards defeating a 7th century ideology.

For their efforts, Fallaci, Bush, Blair, and the Pope have suffered the blows and arrows of mockery and scorn. Sadly, their enemies have been not only the Islamist jihadis around the world but also their own people.
The decadent west only wants to hear that which tickles its ears and will probably ignore Pat Buchanan’s latest warning that

“Every American must hope that Bush's goals, an Afghanistan and an Iraq that are democratic, pro-American and enlisted in the cause of fighting terror, are attained. But we have reached a point where rhetoric must be set aside and realities faced: We face a real prospect of defeat in both wars.”
Buchanan warns us a premature US withdrawal form Iraq potentially could result in:

“The breakup of Iraq, a Shia-Sunni bloodbath spreading across the Middle East, the massacre of the men and women who cast their lot with America, a Turkish invasion of Kurdistan, an Islamic perception the United States had been routed and a Shia-dominated Iraq under the influence of Iran. This would be a strategic disaster that would demoralize our few remaining friends in the region and embolden our enemies. It would be a victory for bin Laden, al-Qaida and Islamists greater than the expulsion of the Soviet Union from Afghanistan.” He writes that come November, with regard to Iraq and Afghanistan, we must decide among three options “Put in more U.S. troops and go all-out for the victory of which President Bush speaks. Stay the course, which holds no promise of victory or of any early end to either war. Begin the withdrawal of U.S. forces, and accept the consequences, which could well be what the president warns -- calamitous.”
In fairness, this is not the kind of news that anyone, other than the terrorists, wants to hear. Nor do we want to hear Buchanan’s foreshadowing words, “The decision is up to Bush and the new Congress, but also to us. No matter which decision we make, Americans are headed for a long, dark night of recriminations not unlike the Truman-McCarthy era.”

We are in for a long dark night of nightmares and surreal days when our only choices will be between the bad and the horrid. And yet, we mock and scorn our secular, political and religious leaders who try to guide us through the maelstrom.

To what end?

And in Those Days, there was no King and everyman did what was right in his own eyes.

Punishment For Navy Chaplain Is Light

"Klingenschmitt had faced a maximum punishment of a reprimand, restriction to base for two months and fines or forfeiture of pay of nearly $42,000 – two-thirds of his annual salary, officials said. "

"A jury of U.S. Naval officers has recommended a reprimand and a $250 fine per month for a year for a Christian chaplain who was convicted of disobeying an order not to wear his military uniform for media appearances. "

"However, the jury also recommended the fine be suspended. "

In Jesus' Name

Our brave soldiers brave hardship, pain and death. Aiding these men and women are chaplains, who minister to them at risk of their own lives. Our chaplains are from different faiths and have been allowed, until now, to pray and minister according to their religious convictions. After some questionable religious practices at the Air Force Academy, the Air Force has passed interim guidelines that go to the opposite extreme and undermine the ability of chaplains to minister according to their own faith tradition. Reps. Todd Akin (R-MO), Walter Jones (R-NC), and Jim Ryun (R-KS) worked to pass language in the House version of the National Defense Authorization that reads: "Each chaplain shall have the prerogative to pray according to the dictates of the chaplain's own conscience, except as must be limited by military necessity, with any such limitation being imposed in the least restrictive manner feasible." This language allows chaplains to pray according to their faith traditions, whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim or other. Incredibly, Sens. John Warner (R-VA) and Carl Levin (D-MI) are trying to replace that clause with politically correct language that will require chaplains to be "sensitive" to, not people of other faiths, but to the "diversity of faiths." People of all faiths should object to any requirement that chaplains pray or serve contrary to their faith tradition.

Additional Resources Where's the 'tolerance' for Christianity?

GUILTY! For Praying In Jesus' Name!

... Lt. Gordon James Klingenschmitt (USN) had prior written permission to wear his uniform in religious observances; this has always been a traditional duty of military Chaplains. His military jury just found him guilty of saying prayers, in uniform, in public!

Still! Unanswered Questions

Excerpts from the President's speech - and a few questions/comments:

On the heroism of Americans:

"On 9/11, our Nation saw the face of evil. Yet on that awful day, we also witnessed something distinctly American: ordinary citizens rising to the occasion, and responding with extraordinary acts of courage."

... well said, Mr. President! GOD bless the NYPD and NYFD! And, GOD bless our Troops!

On the ongoing terrorist threat:

"We face an enemy determined to bring death and suffering into our homes. America did not ask for this war, and every American wishes it were over. So do I. But the war is not over and it will not be over until either we or the extremists emerge victorious. If we do not defeat these enemies now, we will leave our children to face a Middle East overrun by terrorist states and radical dictators armed with nuclear weapons. We are in a war that will set the course for this new century and determine the destiny of millions across the world."

... it's not enough to wish this weren't happening. We should be focused on WINNNG!

On what is at stake:

"This struggle has been called a clash of civilizations. In truth, it is a struggle for civilization. We are fighting to maintain the way of life enjoyed by free nations. And we are fighting for the possibility that good and decent people across the Middle East can raise up societies based on freedom, and tolerance, and personal dignity."

On democratic reform in the Middle East:

"By standing with democratic leaders and reformers, by giving voice to the hopes of decent men and women, we are offering a path away from radicalism. And we are enlisting the most powerful force for peace and moderation in the Middle East: The desire of millions to be free."

... this clash and struggle for civilization has been done before - it was called the CRUSADES! Now the "struggle" is global. The President assumes that; "good and decent people across the Middle East can raise up societies based on freedom, and tolerance, and personal dignity". The "path" to accomplish this to; "stand with democratic leaders and reformers". Mr. President, please name these reformers. Would Hosni Mubarrak or King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia qualify? How about Abdullah of Jordan? Anyone from Yemen, Qatar? You spoke of the Middle East. The "good and decent people" of Europe are embracing Islamic radicalism with child-like fear - are we being realistic here? Are we being too optimistic that centuries old hatreds will be replaced by genuine democratic reform? Mr. President, you need to know thy enemy - I'm not sure you do.

On working together to win the War on Terror:

"Our Nation has endured trials -- and we face a difficult road ahead. Winning this war will require the determined efforts of a unified country. So we must put aside our differences, and work together to meet the test that history has given us. We will defeat our enemies ... we will protect our people ... and we will lead the 21st century into a shining age of human liberty."

... does this mean you will stop dismissing your conservative base? Do you really think the Dems and Liberals will work with you on this, after these years of absolute proof they won't? My goodness, that would be like trying to work with people in the middle east who want to kill us ... oh! wait! ...

Clinton and Terrorism - Just The Facts

"Editor’s note: When it comes to Bill Clinton’s record on terrorism, there’s no need to invent fictional scenarios to show how ineffective he was; the truth is bad enough. A few months after 9/11, Byron York went through the record — including the former president’s habit of taking polls to see how he should respond to terrorist attacks — and came up with this report, from the December 17, 2001 issue of National Review:"

Also: David Horowitz reminds us how the LEFT undermined national security before 9-11.

Long Knives and Brown Shirts

Brown Shirts and Long Knives

Richard Armitage has admitted being the headwaters of the Plamegate tempest turned evil machiavellian Whitehouse scandal. The issue may now die an ignomonious death with hardly a MSM murmur of apology or even an indignant reprimand from the Whitehouse. George Bush assumed office saying that he wanted to bring a new kinder, gentler atmosphere of peace and cooperation to Washington. His one veto in six years seems to support his ecumenical, Methodist philosophy and contrary to the moonbat conspiracy theories of “a vicious smear campaign against Ambassador Wilson,” the Bush Administration has not engaged in the vigorous damage control employed by the Clinton Administration.

The same could be said for his political agenda and efforts which could be described as an anemic “Conservative Lite.” Other than going after Bin Laden in Afghanistan and Hussein in Iraq, many believe he has been too timid in confronting opponents or championing conservative causes. With majorities in both Houses of Congress, we expected a forceful Executive to roll back the travesties of a forty year liberal reign but, although a good man, President Bush has not been that Executive. Unfortunately, we may have to wait until Jan 2008 to see we that kind of President back at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Doubly unfortunate, it could well be Hillary Rodham Clinton who, as we all know can handle a shiv about as well as anyone. She has many years of combat experience in the War Rooms of Bill Clinton and she can assemble a veteran team of propagandists, spinners and back alley assassins that Conservatives only dream about. We see the vestiges of the Democrat machine at work against ABC and the “The Path to 9/11.” As in Palestine or Iraq, a “softly, softly policy” against the Dems has left them alive and rabid for another shot at power.

For all the moonbat talk of "Republican Brownshirts," if HRC is our next President we can expect many nights of “Long knives” and we will get to see a forceful, “take no prisoners Commander-in-Chief” but not the one we wished for.

The Head of the Snake

You think those other two (Khatami and Ahmadinejad) are the problem? Iran is run by a religious Cleric not those two.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei

I don't usually quote the CFR, but they're good at collecting data on TERRORIST SUPPORTING NATIONS!

... unlike our State Department!

And We Are Supposed To Believe We're Fighting A War?

Allowed in the country by Condi Rice and George W. Bush:

former Iranian president, mullah Mohammad Khatami

"For their invitation to Khatami, Bishop Chane and Rev. Peterson deserve a permanent place in the Hall of Shame. Condoleeza Rice and her top Mideast advisor, Undersecretary of State Nicholas Burns, also deserve a dishonorable mention for having granted the G-4 diplomatic visa to Khatami to begin with."

A list of Khatami's crimes can be found here.

"The president’s unmistakeable capitulation to the State Department, which clearly opposes his view of taking the war to the terrorists, not negotiating with them, is inexplicable. This inability, or unwillingness, to confront the bureaucracy that pretends to act in his name may be the greatest – and most deadly - sin of omission of this president."

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will be here soon. APPARENTLY, WE ARE NOT FIGHTING A WAR ON TERROR - WE ARE ENGAGED IN A "PC ACTION".

President Bush Tries Again To Communicate

"President Bush on Tuesday said, "Five years after our nation was attacked, the terrorist danger remains. We're a nation at war -- and America and her allies are fighting this war with relentless determination across the world."

The problem is that the President still doesn't know who the enemy is. You can read his "Strategy for Combating Terrorism" here. The section most interesting to me is Section III, Today's Terrorist Enemy, where he defines the enemy. Here's a few quotes from that Section:

"Today, the principal terrorist enemy confronting the United States is a transnational movement of extremist organizations, networks, and individuals and their state and non-state supporters which have in common that they exploit Islam and use terrorism for ideological ends."

"Our terrorist enemies exploit Islam to serve a violent political vision. Fueled by a radical ideology and a false belief that the United States is the cause of most problems affecting Muslims today, our enemies seek to expel Western power and influence from the Muslim world and establish regimes that rule according to a violent and intolerant distortion of Islam."

"The terrorists distort the idea of jihad into a call for violence and murder against those they regard as apostates or unbelievers, including all those who disagree with them."

... the Section goes on like this. It's obvious to me that the President's intention in this section was not to truly define the enemy, but to say that Islam is not the enemy. This is called APPEASEMENT! The President lists all manner of threats and atrocities committed by the Terrorists, in this section - all of them can be found in the Koran. His speech and this document is simply a "PC piece".

... the Enemy IS Islam! He still DOES NOT GET IT!

Wednesday afternoon update: NRO's Andrew McCarthy is a little kinder, but also has concerns.

... he says; in part:

"To be sure, there is still reason to be concerned that the administration is underestimating the degree of support our enemies enjoy in Islamic countries — and overestimating how “radical” the radicals really are. Thus, the president insists they are driven by a “perverted vision of Islam that rejects tolerance, crushes all dissent, and justifies the murder of innocent men, women and children in the pursuit of political power.” I respectfully suggest that he is seeing the Islam he wants to see, not the one that is. Islam is intolerant."

Stones

Ht: An email from Tiger:

If you don't think our military pilots earn their pay ... you need to take a look at this picture ... and then look again and realize what you're seeing ..

The pilot is a PA Guard guy who flies EMS choppers in civilian life.? Now how many people on the planet you reckon could set the rear end of a chopper down on the roof top of a shack on a steep mountain cliff and hold it there while soldiers load wounded men in the rear??? If this does not impress you ... nothing ever will. Gives me the chills and a serious case of the vertigo ... I can't even imagine having the nerve ... much less the talent and ability ... God Bless our military!!!!!

Wimping The War On Terror

Since 9-11 we have seen the President change from valiant leader to frightened schoolboy.

Now, he has backed down from using the phrase; Islamic Fascist.

The Editors of NRO say:

"The president who swore he would not “permit the world’s most dangerous regimes to threaten us with the world’s most destructive weapons” does not show urgency in fulfilling that pledge."

What do Americans want? Clifford May states it correctly:

"Americans want what they thought they had: a military and intelligence machine capable of defeating America’s enemies, whoever they are, wherever they are."

"No Better Friend - No Worse Enemy"

Well, Well, Well. They say if you turn over the rocks, you'll find the snakes....or something like that.

We've known for a few days now that Richard Armitage, Colin Powell's number three man (or number 2A depending on how the org chart looks) in a moment of indescretion, identified Joe Wilson's wife as Valerie Plame and further revealed that she worked for the CIA.

The implications of this are not good for Colin Powell and Company. That's too bad because at one time, he seemed like such a nice guy. Tsk, tsk. "Seemed" is the operative word; Perhaps he really wasn't or he may have been before the State Department seduced him. Somehow, I think he had us fooled all along.

Powell and Company have kept quiet about the Valerie Plame leak for two years now, letting the Bush Administration twist in the wind of public opinion. I'm not surprised because as I said back in November 2005, you're known by the company you keep. To see what kind of company Mr. Powell keeps go here for a 2004 article and as I pointed to originally in November 2005, here are some more looks at the not so good Soldiers of the Bush Administration. Here was a particulary revealing look at the character of Powells "long time aide and hatchet man, Larry Wilkerson." Powell and Company could have put an end to this Plame foolishness two years ago, but for whatever reason, they chose not to. They chose to let the Democrat propagandists do their dirty work on George Bush, Dick Cheney and Company. Apparently, there was some "real bad blood" there and someday maybe we'll get to read the "inside story."

Perhaps the old Army man (Powell) adopted the Marine Corp's saying, "No better friend, no worse enemy."
