Vatican - Rabbinate Controversy Update!

A Catholic traditionalist bishop who recently had his excommunication lifted by Pope Benedict XVI expressed regret Friday to the pontiff for the "distress and problems" he caused by denying the Holocaust.

In a letter to the Vatican, Bishop Richard Williamson, who recently denied in a TV interview that 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust, called his remarks "imprudent."

Israel's Chief Rabbinate Severs Ties with the Vatican and Why You Can't Blame 'Em!

I like the subject of Religion. I like Politics. These are two things, out of many, that interest me. Have you noticed how completely screwed up some Priests, Pastors, Reverends and Ministers are? In my opinion, and yes, your opinion may disagree; some "sects" are more screwed up than others as well.

Look; I'm trying to remember the "judge not" verse but sometimes it just gets to be too much!

In Biblical prophecy the great mother harlot (a "christian" church - with harlot daughters), riding the dragon (Satan); will eventually be hated, will be made desolate and naked, her flesh will be eaten and she'll be burned with fire (Rev. 17:16). And some of these "ministers", perhaps leaders in one of the "harlots", may have more to answer for than the rest. - Tiger

JERUSALEMIsrael's chief rabbinate severed ties with the Vatican on Wednesday to protest a papal decision to reinstate a bishop who publicly denied 6 million Jews were killed during the Holocaust.

(... what! This should be front page news! - Tiger)

Israel's highest Jewish body sent a letter to the Holy See expressing "sorrow and pain" at the papal decision. "It will be very difficult for the chief rabbinate of Israel to continue its dialogue with the Vatican as before," the letter said. Chief rabbis of both the Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews were parties to the letter.

The rabbinate, which faxed a copy of the letter to The Associated Press, also canceled a meeting with the Vatican set for March. The rabbinate and the state of Israel have separate ties with the Vatican, and Wednesday's move does not affect state relations.

... question: is it proper for Christianity to have a "State" relationship with the rest of the entire world? Naw! Didn't think so! - Tiger

Pope Benedict XVI, faced with an uproar over the bishop, said Wednesday he feels "full and indisputable solidarity" with Jews and warned against any denial of the full horror of the Nazi genocide.

The remarks were his first public comments on the issue since the controversy erupted Saturday.

The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said the Vatican hoped that in light of the pope's words, "the difficulties expressed by the Israeli Rabbinate can be subjected to further and deeper reflection."

Lombardi expressed hope that dialogue between the two parties can continue "fruitfully and serenely."

Oded Weiner, the director general of the chief rabbinate's office, welcomed the pope's remarks, calling them "a big step toward reconciliation."

With his comments, the pope reached out to Jews angered by his decision to rehabilitate bishop Richard Williamson, who told Swedish TV in an interview broadcast last week that evidence "is hugely against 6 million Jews being deliberately gassed." He said 300,000 Jews were killed at most, "but not one of them by gassing in a gas chamber."

... are you kidding!!! Christians are angered by this also!!!!! - Tiger

About 6 million Jews were systematically murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators during World War II. Many were gassed in death camps while others were killed en masse in other ways, including shooting and starvation. About 240,000 Holocaust survivors live in Israel.

Jewish groups, including the American Jewish Committee, the Simon Wiesenthal Center and Israel's quasi-governmental Jewish Agency, denounced the Vatican for bringing a Holocaust denier back into the fold.

The Vatican quickly distanced itself from Williamson's comments and said removing the excommunication by no means implied the Vatican shared his views.

Williamson and three other bishops were excommunicated 20 years ago after they were consecrated by an ultraconservative archbishop without papal consent — a move the Vatican at the time called an act of schism.

Benedict said Wednesday he had lifted the excommunication because the bishops had "repeatedly shown their deep suffering over the situation."

The German-born Benedict expressed his "full and indisputable solidarity" with Jews.
He recalled his visits to the Auschwitz death camp — including as pope in May 2006 — and the "brutal massacre of millions of Jews, innocent victims of blind racial and religious hatred."

The Vatican and the rabbinate launched formal relations in 2000 when Pope John Paul II visited Jerusalem. Since then, delegates from the Holy See and the rabbinate have met twice a year to discuss religious issues. This is the first time ties have been severed.

The Vatican and the state of Israel have had their own relationship since establishing diplomatic ties in 1993.

... Tiger's full disclosure for those who think I hate Catholics: I am a sinner trying to worship Christ like many of you while searching for truth. My belief is very compatible with the early 1st century Apostolic Church and Protestant Reformation teaching. The Bible plainly states Christianity's enemies will be "Christians". As I say on my blog; the Truth Can Be Brutal! BTW, I've been happily married to a Roman Catholic girl for almost 29 years, and believe me, it's hard to pull something over on the Tigress! : ) And yes, we did get married in a Roman Catholic Church by a Priest! I have no problem with Catholics - it's the Roman/Pagan inspired Papacy I don't like!

Arrogance!

How Has This Guy Done So Far? His Name Is Barry Soetoro. Some Call Him President. Some Call Him "Messiah".

Firstly, He Wants To Kill More Babies:

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama on Friday struck down the Bush administration's ban on giving federal money to international groups that perform abortions or provide abortion information — an inflammatory policy that has bounced in and out of law for the past quarter-century.

... Population Action International, an advocacy group, said that the policy had "severely impacted" women's health and that the step "will help reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, abortions and women dying from high-risk pregnancies because they don't have access to family planning."

Anti-abortion groups and lawmakers condemned Obama's decision.

"I have long supported the Mexico City Policy and believe this administration's decision to be counter to our nation's interests," said Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky.

"Coming just one day after the 36th anniversary of the tragic Roe v. Wade decision, this presidential directive forces taxpayers to subsidize abortions overseas — something no American should be required by government to do," said House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio.

Rep. Mike Pence, R-Ind., called it "morally wrong to take the taxpayer dollars of millions of pro-life Americans to promote abortion around the world."

"President Obama not long ago told the American people that he would support policies to reduce abortions, but today he is effectively guaranteeing more abortions by funding groups that promote abortion as a method of population control," said Douglas Johnson, legislative director of the National Right to Life Committee.

Secondly, He Wants To Close Gitmo:

President Bush, downright lazy in his handling of Guantanamo Bay terrorists, terrorists that should have been tried and executed long ago by military tribunal (remember, like the Nazis?), has given "Barry" a political gift.

Closing down the Guantanamo Bay detention center for terrorism suspects as President-elect Barack Obama has planned would be to invite throat-slitting inmates into the United States, according to a delegation from a soldier-support organization that visited the Cuba facility.

"Some members of our tour group including Miss Florida 2007 and our executive director, Catherine Moy, were given hand gestures by the terrorists like they would slit their throats if they could get to them," Melanie Morgan, chairman of Move America Forward, told WND today.
"What really offends me is the talk from Barack Obama's upcoming administration that he wants to close the prison," she continued.

"He better go down there and take a look at the facilities – and read the menus and look at the movie library – before he makes rash decisions that will endanger American lives," she said.

... "The base at Guantanamo is a perfect place for terrorists. In fact, it's too good.

The weather is nice, the prisoners eat better than they did in the caves of Afghanistan, and they have government-issued Qurans and prayer rugs. Most importantly, these beasts aren't out plotting another 9/11 or trying to kill Americans or other innocents," she said.

In her column, she cited the statistic that inmates at Gitmo on average gain 15 pounds.

"The United States has even had to buy them bigger pants because they got so fat on their Gitmo meals," she wrote.

... these Terrorists will be afforded the same RIGHTS you and I have and endanger American anti-terror techniques - Tiger

Like the Clintons, "Barry" Abhors the Military:

Since its inception in 1953, every new president has attended The Salute to Heroes Inaugural Ball – until now.

The ball was created for President Dwight Eisenhower's inauguration to honor recipients of the Medal of Honor, the nation's highest military award. The event is sponsored by the American Legion and co-sponsored by 13 other veteran's service organizations, including the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.

And while 48 of the nation's 99 living recipients of the Medal of Honor attended the event, reports the Cleveland Leader and various self-attested attendees of the ball, newly sworn-in President Barack Obama became the first president in 56 years to skip out on the ceremony.

Geert Wilders Is Caught Up In A True To Life '1984' - And He Needs Our Help

The Nazis Have Returned To Eurabia -
And Why Your Love of Political Correctness Is Really A Love of Fascism

Geert Wilders has long been a thorn in the side of Holland’s politically correct powers that be. In an era of rigid multiculturalism, the gadfly politician has persisted in asking uncomfortable questions about the compatibility of Islamic mores and European values – an often-lonely campaign that has earned him death threats from Muslim fanatics and the disdain of the Dutch political class, media, and civil authorities. But rather than challenge Wilders in the court of public opinion, the Dutch establishment has decided to put him on trial.

This Wednesday the Dutch Court of Appeals in Amsterdam ordered a criminal prosecution of Wilders on charges of “incitement and hatred and discrimination.” His specific crime: statements that he has made about “Muslims and their belief.” Citing Wilders’s comparisons of Islam with Nazism, the Court of Appeals claims that criminal prosecution is the “obvious” response to this allegedly intolerable insult.

To understand just how outrageous is the court’s order it is necessary to consider the substance, such as it is, of the charges against Wilders. It does not exaggerate the case to say that Wilders is being accused of nothing more than holding an opinion with which the court’s judges disagree. (One cannot call it an unpopular opinion since, if recent polling is any guide, majorities of the Dutch public share Wilders’s apprehensions about Islam and Muslims' ability to assimilate.) Thus, the court cites Wilders’s “insulting statements” and complains that his “presentation is characterized by biased, strongly generalizing [sic] phrasings with a radical meaning, ongoing reiteration and an increasing intensity.” In fact, the only truly “radical” idea is the notion that having a “biased” opinion, even one that some consider “insulting,” constitutes a crime. According to this absurdly open-ended standard, any Dutch citizen who has ever expressed an opinion has potentially committed a crime. “Apparently this is the Netherlands today,” Wilders darkly observed yesterday. “If you speak out you might be prosecuted. To participate in public debate has become a dangerous activity.”

You and I can help Geert. Write, email, FAX the Dutch Embassy. Here is the contact information:

When Does "Good" Become Too Good? When Religious Leaders Become Politically Active!

If you define "bad" as that which is against "good", what is the definition of "bad" done in the name of "good"? It's still bad, of course. All of us have done things we thought were good but, in the end, turned out to be bad.

Didn't the Sanhedrin believe they were doing God's work by killing Christ?

History has another great example of this; "goodness for 'badness' sake". It's called the Dark Ages - and I think we're beginning to head that way again!

When "Church" leaders get worried about society they begin to believe that force will be necessary to regain our ethics and belief systems. In the Dark Ages, the "Roman" Church forced millions into paying indulgences (payments for forgiveness), idol worship (still practiced in the Roman Church), and replacement of God by man (the Papacy). Some paid with their life to deny this AntiChrist movement.

Even after the Protestant Reformation and the "Enlightenment", you could still be hanged (right here in America), for not attending church on Sunday!

This forced mixing of secular law with man-made moral law denies all belief in God. Christianity says that all things are possible with God - it doesn't say all things are possible with man. Even in my lifetime we've had similar laws. Remember "blue laws"?

There exists today an organization to promote this concept of uniform worship behavior. To be fair to them, the Lord's Day Alliance says it does not in any way promote legislation to force worship behavior, however, I believe this sort of activity promotes the trend.

The "Lord's Day" is in fact, the Sabbath. Throughout history and according to the Bible, the Sabbath has always been celebrated on Saturday! Did Peter and Paul go to church on Sunday? No, that was a pagan celebration day! Are all Jews wrong concerning the Sabbath? No, It was man who changed the celebration day, not God.

You may argue this is a small point. But I ask you; is the 4th Commandment to be considered a small point? And if it is, which of the other nine is also small?

So please, help me by paying attention and looking for actions by our political and religious leaders to enforce "religious" behavior by law. Something tells me the Obama administration is a perfect foil for this effort.

BTW, the good book calls this kind of man-made force; "the Mark of the Beast"!

Is He Eligible? Do We Have A Usurper In The White House?

The Obama Watch Continues - This Issue Will Not Go Away!
Eligibility battle rages on 3 fronts
Court, Congress and college challenged on constitutionality

Officials at Occidental College in Los Angeles have been served with a demand to produce records of Barack Obama's attendance there during the 1980s to determine whether he was registered as a foreign national.

The case is one of three fronts now established that contest the president-elect's constitutional eligibility for the Oval Office.

The Supreme Court and Congress also are being challenged to address concerns that Obama doesn't meet the requirements of the U.S. Constitution that the president be a "natural born" citizen.

WND has reported on a long list of legal cases raising questions over the issue, including several that have reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Justices have declined to give any of the cases full hearings on their merits, but another conference remains on the Supreme Court docket for Jan. 23 on the issue.

"If Obama is sworn in as president, we will file a Petition for Writ of 'Quo Warranto,' a case that will challenge Obama as being ineligible to serve as president because he is 'not qualified,'" said Philip J. Berg, a lawyer who has brought several cases to court.

Berg, whose information is on his ObamaCrimes.com website, indicated the issue isn't going away.

Orly Taitz, a California lawyer whose dispute remains pending before the high court, agreed, noting that one of the hearings already is scheduled for the days following Obama's inaugural Tuesday.

Taitz said her arguments rest on precedents from both the California Supreme Court, which years ago removed a candidate for president from the ballot because he was only 34, and the U.S. Supreme Court's affirmation of the ruling. The Constitution requires a president to be 35.

In one of the latest developments, Gary Kreep of the United States Justice Foundation petitioned Occidental College with a demand for its records concerning Obama.

"The gravamen of the petition is the question as to whether United States Senator Barack Hussein Obama, of Illinois, is eligible to serve as president of the United States pursuant to the requirements for that office in the United States Constitution," he wrote. "The records sought may provide documentary evidence, and/or admissions by said defendant, as to said eligibility or lack thereof."

Where's the proof Barack Obama was born in the U.S. or that he fulfills the "natural-born American" clause in the Constitution? If you still want to see it, join more than 200,000 others and sign the petition demanding proof of eligibility now!

College officials confirmed they received the notice but had not decided how to respond. The decision, however, may be removed from their hands because of the team of lawyers Obama has engaged to prevent such inquiries into his past.

"Senator Obama has filed responsive pleadings in this matter and is represented by counsel, and has the opportunity to object to this production, should he so desire," the affidavit from Kreep said.

"Good cause exists for this production under Subpoena Duces Tecum, in that testimony will be elicited from the original records obtained through the witness named herein, and there is no other process available to secure said testimony," he wrote.

The lawsuits allege in various ways Obama does not meet the "natural born citizen" clause of the U.S. Constitution, Article 2, Section 1, which reads, "No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President."

Some allege his birth took place in Kenya, and his mother was a minor at the time of his birth – too young to confer American citizenship. They argue Obama's father, Barack Obama Sr., was a Kenyan citizen subject to the jurisdiction of the United Kingdom at the time and would have handed down British citizenship.

There also are questions raised about Obama's move to Indonesia when he was a child and his attendance at school there when only Indonesian citizens were allowed and his travel to Pakistan in the '80s when such travel was forbidden to American citizens.

The lawsuit on which USJF is working was filed on behalf of presidential candidate Alan Keyes and others, and describes the potential damage an ineligible president could create.

"Should Senator Obama be discovered, after he takes office, to be ineligible for the Office of President of the United States of America and, thereby, his election declared void," argues a case brought on behalf of Ambassador Alan Keyes, also a presidential candidate. "Americans will suffer irreparable harm in that (a) usurper will be sitting as the President of the United States, and none of the treaties, laws, or executive orders signed by him will be valid or legal."

On his ObamaCrimes.com website, Berg sent his message directly to the U.S. Congress.
He's asking in an open letter to members of Congress for congressional hearings "to determine the truth regarding qualifications of Barry Soetoro, otherwise known as Barack Hussein Obama…"

"As you must be aware, there are many unresolved questions concerning Soetoro/Obama's status or lack thereof, as a 'natural born' American citizen, as required by 'our' U.S. Constitution," he wrote.

He noted the failure by Congress to challenge Obama's eligibility during the process through which the Electoral College vote was adopted.

"Because of your failure to 'question' the eligibility of Soetoro/Obama, we are headed for a 'Constitutional Crisis.' Yes, a 'Constitutional Crisis' because Soetoro/Obama who appears not to be a 'natural born' U.S. citizen is 'ineligible' under 'our' U.S. Constitution to serve as president," he said.

He cited the document published on the Internet by Obama's campaign, the "Certification of Live Birth," as no more than an effort to "quash" questions. Other critics have noted the state of Hawaii granted such certifications to parents of children not born in the state at the time.
"Without truthful information concerning Soetoro/Obama's eligibility to serve as President, 'We the People' have been injured," he wrote.

Taitz took a different route, submitting to the U.S. Supreme Court a motion "to declare that by default, the president elect respondent Barack Obama has failed to qualify under [the] U.S. Constitution."

"Does the burden of proof lie with the petitioner to prove standing and evidence lack of qualification by a candidate/president elect, where election officers rely on a candidate's declaration? OR does the [Constitution] place the burden of proof on the president-elect to provide objective government certified witnessed proofs, with election officers under oath to challenge, examine and declare that the president elect has or has not qualified, enforceable by petition for redress of grievances?"

Not only has the respondent, Obama, "failed to submit proofs … for any of the qualifications," she wrote. "Respondent has hindered discovery."

She argued that having Obama declared ineligible until he would provide documentation would "cause far less political trauma" than allowing his inauguration because it would uphold the constitution.

She also raised the issue of the concealment of Obama's records.

"Obama has refused to submit certified copies of any of his original long form 'vault' birth certificates in Hawaii to any public officer or to any Petitioner. Relevant records in Kenya have also been officially restricted," she said. "Obama has sealed all educational records which might reveal his stated citizenship. These include Punahou High School, Occidental College, Columbia University, and Harvard Law School."

Her letter included a warning, too.

"Thirty-three democracies descended into tyranny during the 20th century by failing to uphold constitutional protections," she said. "Petitioner humbly prays this Court evaluate the Petitioner's case in context of how best to enforce restrictive qualifications for president to preserve the Constitution and Republic from tyranny."

WND twice has organized opportunities for readers to send FedEx letters to the Supreme Court, asking for consideration of the issue on its merits.

The most recent campaign generated 12,096 messages, following the earlier effort that resulted in 60,128 letters.

Obama has claimed in his autobiography and elsewhere that he was born in Hawaii in 1961 to parents Barack Hussein Obama Sr., a Kenyan national, and Stanley Ann Dunham, a minor. But details about which hospital handled the birth and other details provided on the complete birth certificate have been withheld by Obama despite lawsuits and public demands for release.

WND senior reporter Jerome Corsi went to both Kenya and Hawaii prior to the election to investigate issues surrounding Obama's birth. But his research and discoveries only raised more questions.

The biggest question was why, if a Hawaii birth certificate exists as his campaign has stated, Obama hasn't simply ordered it made available to settle the rumors.

The governor's office in Hawaii said there is a valid certificate but rejected requests for access and left ambiguous its origin: Does the certificate on file with the Department of Health indicate a Hawaii birth or was it generated after the Obama family registered a Kenyan birth in Hawaii?

Why America Is Having Societal Problems

1 in 3 'Christians' say 'Jesus sinned'
Barna poll shows adults develop their own beliefs

By Bob Unruh
© 2009 WorldNetDaily
Comments By Tiger

Half of Americans who call themselves "Christian" don't believe Satan exists and fully one-third are confident that Jesus sinned while on Earth, according to a new Barna Group poll.
Tiger Insert -------
Satan:
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.Job 1:5-7 (in Context) Job 1 (Whole Chapter)
And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.Job 1:6-8 (in Context) Job 1 (Whole Chapter)
Jesus without sin:
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:14-16 (in Context) Hebrews 4 (Whole Chapter)
------- End Tiger Insert

Another 40 percent say they do not have a responsibility to share their Christian faith with others, and 25 percent "dismiss the idea that the Bible is accurate in all of the principles it teaches," the organization reports.
Tiger Insert -------
Responsibility to share:
Matthew 28 (Theologians call this, "The Great Commission")
16Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Biblical accuracy:
Much has been written and documented on this subject. Historians, Archaeologists, Mathematicians, and even legal scholars have all argued for biblical authenticity. The Bible has been called the most "verified" book in existence.
Dr. Peter Stoner, former chairman of the departments of mathematics, astronomy, and engineering at Pasadena College (Calif.), worked with 600 students for several years applying the "principle of probability" to the biblical prophecies of the Messiah's coming. They chose just 8 from the many available and came to the conclusion that the chances of all 8 being fulfilled in the lifetime of one man is 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000.
BTW, these 8 can be verified historically. In the over 120 prophecies concerning just the Messiah in the Old Testament, all came to be true in the New Testament (separated by centuries) and many of these can be verified with history and archaeology. The mathematical chances of this happening is incalculable!
Although one must have faith (as with all religions) the Bible is probably the most authenticated book of all time.

Pollster George Barna said the results have huge implications.

"Americans are increasingly comfortable picking and choosing what they deem to be helpful and accurate theological views and have become comfortable discarding the rest of the teachings in the Bible," he said.

"Growing numbers of people now serve as their own theologian-in-residence," he continued.
"One consequence is that Americans are embracing an unpredictable and contradictory body of beliefs." The results are a dramatic departure from the nation's foundings, when leaders held prayer meetings in the halls of Congress and attributed to Almighty God the victory in the Revolutionary War. Barna noted the millions of people who describe themselves as Christian and believe Jesus sinned, or those who say they will experience eternal salvation because they confessed their sins and accepted Christ as their savior, "but also believe that a person can do enough good works to earn eternal salvation."
Tiger - again, the Bible is very clear on this and one can cite dozens of Bible verses. "Works" alone is insufficient. One must have an overriding (not weak) faith (complete heart and mind belief), one must follow Gods Law (the Ten Commandments), one must persevere in correcting his inevitable wrongdoing (as all of us humans do), and yes, the Bible says we will be judged by our "good works". Differing Christian sects emphasise different ones and some items not mentioned (Baptism, for example). In the end of the argument, the guide is the Bible and not the traditions of men, or the words of Tiger!
Barna's
private, non-partisan, for-profit research group in Ventura, Calif., has been studying cultural trends since 1984. For this study, the organization randomly sampled 1,004 adults across the continental U.S. The study has a margin of error of 3.2 percent at the 95 percent confidence level. For the study, "born-again Christians" were defined as people who said they had made a personal commitment to Jesus Christ that was still important in their life today and who also indicated they believed that when they die they will go to heaven because they had confessed their sins and had accepted Jesus Christ as their savior.
The results highlight the significant shift in beliefs held by Americans, the study said. "For much of America's history, the assumption was that if you were born in America, you would affiliate with the Christian faith," the report said. Now however, "half of all adults now contend that Christianity is just one of many options that Americans choose from and that a huge majority of adults pick and choose what they believe rather than adopt a church or denomination's slate of beliefs."
Fifty percent of Americans believe Christianity no longer has a lock on people's hearts. Two-thirds of evangelical Christians (64 percent) and three out of every five Hispanics (60 percent) embraced that position, making them the groups most convinced of the shift in America's default faith. In contrast, the poll showed the importance of belief was growing along with the number of options about what to believe. "By an overwhelming margin – 74 percent to 23 percent – adults agreed that their religious faith was becoming even more important to them than it used to be as a source of objective and reliable moral guidance." Forty percent of respondents who do not affiliate with Christianity confirmed the increasing influence of their beliefs.
The result "underscored the fact that people no longer look to denominations or churches to offer a slate of theological views that the individual adopts in its entirety," the report said.
By a margin of 71 percent to 26 percent adults "noted that they are personally more likely to develop their own set of religious beliefs than to accept a comprehensive set of beliefs taught by a particular church," the report said. Nearly two-thirds of "born again Christians" adopted that stance. "In the past, when most people determined their theological and moral points of view, the alternatives from which they chose were exclusively of Christian options - e.g., the Methodist point of view, the Baptist perspective, Catholic teaching, and so forth," Barna noted.
"Today, Americans are more likely to pit a variety of non-Christian options against various Christian-based views. This has resulted in an abundance of unique worldviews based on personal combinations of theology drawn from a smattering of world religions such as Christianity, Buddhism, Judaism, Hinduism, and Islam as well as secularism."
... The Bible says that the "Word" of Christ (God) "became flesh" meaning Christ is the fulfillment of biblical record and prophecy (among other things). You either accept this or you don't. Christianity always gives you a choice (free will). You have the choice to believe or not. No one is forcing you. At the end of all things there will be only two types of people in the world; believers and non-believers. It's up to you to decide which side you're on. - Tiger

The Attacks On America Continue - We Are Still Not Safe!

Many Speak of How President Bush Has "Kept Us Safe", With No Attacks; But I Tell You, He Has Simply Passed The Torch of PC Fighting to Barry Soetoro, a.k.a., Barack Hussein Obama

A Muslim scholar chosen to speak at President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural prayer service Wednesday is the leader of a group that federal prosecutors say has ties to terrorists.

Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America since 2006, is one of many religious leaders scheduled to speak at the prayer service at Washington's National Cathedral. Ms. Mattson has been the guest of honor at State Department dinners and spoke at a prayer service at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.

But in 2007 and as recently as July, federal prosecutors in Dallas filed court documents linking the Plainfield, Ind.-based Islamic society to the group Hamas, which the U.S. considers a terrorist organization.

Neither Ms. Mattson nor her organization has been charged. But prosecutors wrote in July that they had "a wide array of testimonial and documentary evidence expressly linking" the group to Hamas and other radical groups.

Linda Douglass, a spokeswoman for Mr. Obama's inaugural committee, would not discuss the case or say whether the committee knew about it.

"She has a stellar reputation in the faith community," she said Saturday night.

The Islamic Society of North America, which describes itself as "the nation's largest mainstream Muslim community-based organization," was included on a list of unindicted co-conspirators in the Dallas terrorism case against the Holy Land Foundation.

That foundation and five of its former leaders were convicted at a retrial in November of funneling millions of dollars to Hamas.

Attorneys for Ms. Mattson's group wrote in court documents that it is not a subject or target of the Holy Land investigation and fought its inclusion on the co-conspirators list.

"That ISNA ... appeared in these documents and [shares] a common history with these defendants is a reflection of the evidence, not any attempt to 'disparage' or 'vilify,' " federal prosecutor James Jacks said in the July filing.

Israel! - Whatever You Do, Don't Stop Now!

Optimism Builds as 10-Day Cease-Fire Proposal Emerges in Gaza

... "optimism" is sometimes a trick you know ... - Tiger

CAIRO, Egypt — Egypt and Hamas were negotiating a proposal for a 10-day cease-fire in Gaza, officials said Wednesday, as the Palestinian death toll in the war passed 1,000 and smoke from Israeli airstrikes rose over Gaza City's devastated streets.

Egyptian and Palestinian officials said they hoped to seal Hamas' agreement on a temporary halt in fighting, which would be presented to Israel for approval. Key uncertainties remained for a longer-term deal under which Gaza's borders would be open and Israeli troops would withdraw.

... "key uncertainties"; ha !!!!!!!!!!! - Tiger

The officials provided details of the deal on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the Egypt-Hamas talks. But Egyptian officials also expressed public optimism that momentum toward a deal was growing.

U.S. officials were unable to tell FOX News where the parties stand as the U.S. has no representations at the negotiations. Officials are watching the developments from Cairo closely.
"We're working with Hamas and we're working with the Israeli side. We hope to reach an outcome soon," Hossam Zaki, a spokesman for Egypt's Foreign Ministry, told the British Broadcasting Corp.

A Hamas spokesman said he also believed an agreement was possible.

"There is good progress in Egypt. We hope that now Egypt will contact Israel and talk about all issues," Ghazi Hamad, a senior Hamas adviser, told the BBC.

Asked if a negotiated settlement could also include a deal between Hamas and the rival Palestinian administration, led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in the West Bank, Hamad said he was hopeful.

"I am optimistic now because I think there is no other choice for us," he said.

Egypt's foreign minister, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, said details on the proposed cease-fire would be kept "under a lid of secrecy" until all parties agreed but said issues included an Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, opening crossings into the blockaded territory and some kind of international monitors.

Israel showed no signs of slowing its bruising 19-day-old offensive against Gaza's Hamas rulers, striking some 60 targets. One airstrike hit an overcrowded cemetery, spreading body parts and rotting flesh over a wide area. The army said the airstrike targeted a weapons cache hidden near the graveyard.

Guerrillas in Lebanon sent rockets crashing into northern Israel on Wednesday for the second time in a week, drawing an Israeli artillery barrage and threatening to drag the Jewish state into a second front.

The rocket fire in the north caused no injuries, but sent residents scurrying to bomb shelters. There was no immediate claim of responsibility, and speculation focused on small Palestinian groups. Hezbollah, the Iranian-backed guerrilla group that fought a month long war with Israel in 2006, denied involvement in last week's attack.

Israel launched the onslaught in Gaza on Dec. 27, seeking to stop the ruling Hamas militant group from firing rockets into southern Israel. The offensive has killed more than 1,000 Palestinians, half of them civilians, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The toll included 11 Palestinians killed Wednesday, medical officials said.

Thirteen Israelis have also been killed since the offensive began, four by rocket fire from Gaza.

The Muslim world has expressed outrage over Israel's Gaza offensive, and in a new condemnation Wednesday, al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden urged Muslims to launch a holy war against Israel.

Iran's top leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, issued a religious opinion, or fatwa, declaring the purchase of any Israeli goods or trade with Israeli companies to be forbidden.

Desperately trying to end the fighting, U.N. secretary-general Ban Ki-moon opened a visit to the Mideast on Wednesday urging an immediate halt to the violence.

"My call is (for) an immediate end to violence in Gaza," he said in Cairo after meeting Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.

"It is intolerable that civilians bear the brunt of this conflict," he said, adding that the "negotiations need to be intensified to provide arrangements and guarantees in order to sustain an endurable cease-fire and calm." Ban is scheduled to arrive in Israel on Thursday. He will also visit Jordan, the Palestinian-controlled West Bank, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Kuwait. His itinerary does not include a stop in Gaza because of the ongoing conflict.

Israeli military officials have said talks in Cairo will determine whether Israel moves closer to a truce with Hamas or widens its offensive to send thousands of reservists into crowded, urban areas where casualties on both sides would likely mount.

Israel again postponed plans to send its lead negotiator, Amos Gilad, to Cairo, defense officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because the date of his departure has not been set. When Gilad actually travels, it will be a strong signal of progress.

In the truce talks, Hamas has insisted that it would not agree to a cease-fire unless Israel pulls its troops out of the tiny Mediterranean coastal strip and allowed Gaza's borders to the outside world to immediately reopen.

But the temporary cease-fire proposal being discussed in Cairo would allow Israel's military to stay in place and the borders closed during a 10-day period of quiet, the Egyptian and Palestinian officials close to the talks said.

During that time, Egyptian, Turkish and other international mediators would try to negotiate an arrangement for policing Egypt's border with Gaza to prevent weapons smuggling into the territory, the officials said.

This would likely entail some kind of international monitors on the Palestinian side of the border — but the two sides remained far apart on who would make up the force, where they would be deployed and their mission.

Hamas has so far publicly resisted deploying international monitors and has demanded a role in policing the crossings and borders. Israel — like the United States, the EU and other nations — considers Hamas a terrorist group and has always rejected a role for it policing the crossings.
Egypt has also rejected any foreign troops on its side of the border, though it says it would accept foreign technical and financial aid to help control the border, which is riddled with smuggling tunnels.

Only after a deal has been reached on border security — including control of the crossings — would the crossings be opened and Israel would withdraw its forces from Gaza, the officials said.
That means negotiators potentially would have only 10 days to work out the contentious details or else risk a return to fighting.

Efforts of Arab countries to contain the crisis were riven, meanwhile, with their own divisions. Qatar on Wednesday managed to get enough Arab countries to agree on an emergency summit meeting in its capital of Doha for Friday.

Its efforts succeeded over the strong opposition of Egypt and Saudi Arabia who preferred a meeting a few days later in Kuwait on the sidelines of an economic summit.

Overnight, Israeli warplanes and helicopter gunships pounded a police court in Gaza City, rocket-launching sites, gunmen, weapons-production and storage facilities and about 35 weapons smuggling tunnels, the military said. Later in the day, witnesses in southern Gaza reported air strikes on the house of a rocket squad leader and a militant's car.

Aircraft also struck the Sheikh Radwan cemetery in Gaza City, destroying about 30 graves — some just recently dug — and scattering bits of flesh and body parts, residents said.

Maj. Avital Leibovich, a military spokeswoman, said the army targeted a weapons cache next to the cemetery and a nearby rocket-launching site. She said the heavy damage was the result of secondary explosions.

Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of using mosques, schools and other civilian areas to stage attacks or store weapons.

Fireballs and smoke plumes from Israeli bombing have become a common sight in the territory of 1.4 million people, who are trapped because Israel and Egypt have blockaded border crossings ever since the Islamic Hamas overran Gaza in June 2007.

Humanitarian concerns have increased amid the onslaught although some aid is reaching Gaza during daily three-hour lulls Israel has allowed to let in supplies. A total of 111 truckloads of food and medical supplies were to pass through on Wednesday, the military said.

Palestinian rocket fire has dropped off dramatically since the offensive began. Twelve rockets were fired at Israel on Wednesday, down from as many as 80 a day early in the operation.

Enabling Evil - Expected Of Course

The Obama Administration Hasn't Been Sworn In Yet And His Crooked Oligarchs Are Already In The News

Sen. Charles E. Grassley, ranking Republican on the Senate Finance Committee, is raising questions about a housekeeper who worked briefly for Treasury Secretary-nominee Timothy Geithner without proper immigration papers, and multiple years when Mr. Geithner didn't pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for himself.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus (D., Mont.) has summoned committee members to his office this afternoon to air the matter ahead of any public confirmation hearing.
According to people familiar with the matter, Mr. Geithner employed a housekeeper whose immigration papers expired during her tenure with Mr. Geithner, currently president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The woman went on to get a green card to work legally in the country and federal immigration authorities didn't press charges against her, these people said.

(both Parties are for illegal immigration; it has greatly helped the economy! Ha! - Tiger)

The second issue involved taxes due while Mr. Geithner worked for the International Monetary Fund between 2001 and 2004. As an employee, Mr. Geithner was technically considered self-employed and was required to pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for himself as both an employer and an employee.

He apparently failed to do so, resulting in Internal Revenue Service audits his last two years at the IMF. As soon as the IRS brought the issue to his attention, he paid the taxes with interest, these people said.

It's unclear how much of an impediment these issues will be to Mr. Geithner's nomination. On its merits, his ascension has been widely praised. Mr. Geithner spent most of his career managing government responses to financial crises, from the 1990s bailouts of Mexico, Indonesia and Korea, to the market meltdown that has brought Wall Street to its knees.

At the same time, similar issues have derailed nominations in the past. President Clinton's first and second choices for attorney general both withdrew amid allegations that they failed to pay taxes for household help. President George W. Bush's first choice for Labor secretary withdrew after it emerged that she had employed an illegal alien.

Obama aides said they didn't believe these issues would present a problem, given the minor nature of the infractions and the gravity of the role he has been nominated to take.

On the tax front, Mr. Geithner's oversight is not uncommon. The IRS has mandated loose rules for U.S.-born IMF employees unaware of their obligations to pay payroll taxes.

(uh ... this is an "expert" in this area, is he not? - Tiger)

Sen. Baucus nonetheless decided to hold a closed-door meeting to allow the two matters to be aired before Mr. Geithner's public confirmation hearing.

"It's important that I talk to senators, which I'm going to be doing," Sen. Baucus said as he went into the meeting.

Democratic senators plan to defend Mr. Geithner, saying that the nature of the complaints pale in comparison to the gravity of the crises he has been asked to face, a severe economic recession, turmoil in the financial markets and the collapse of the U.S. auto industry.

... remember Tiger's Rule; "Never Ever Vote For An Incumbent" and if possible, "Never Ever Vote Republican or Democrat".

Meanwhile ... The U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee is interviewing Sen. Hillary Clinton for her appointment by President-elect Barack Obama as the next U.S. Secretary of State but apparently is making a determined effort to prevent any discussion of her "Chinagate" or "Filegate" scandals.

Guess Which Sector Has The Highest Job Growth! - Yes, The Government!

The Rabid Behemoth Grows And Will Grow More

As Private-Sector Jobs Declined, Government Employment Increased
Monday, January 12, 2009
By Matt Cover

(CNSNews.com) – Despite the highest unemployment rate in 15 years, government grew at all levels in 2008, continuing a seemingly unstoppable trend that has withstood recessions, wars, and record budget deficits. Health care and education also added jobs in 2008, continuing their iron-clad growth trends as well.

State, federal, county and local governments employed approximately 22.5 million people in 2008, according to a report released Friday by the U.S. Department of Labor. Additionally, 13.4 million people were employed in the healthcare sector, and 3 million worked in education, according to the report.

Unemployment rose to 7.2 percent in December 2008, up from 6.8 percent in November and 5.8 percent in 2007. Government, healthcare, and education were the only three sectors that didn’t shed jobs in 2008.

The federal government added 84,400 jobs in 2008.

Federal government employment is traditionally recession-proof, due to the fact that the federal government usually runs a considerable budget deficit. State and local governments generally cannot, making their growth seem paradoxical given the country’s crippled economy.

State governments added 11,600 jobs in 2008, while local governments added 68,100 jobs. State and local leaders have pressured the incoming Obama administration for federal assistance, saying massive federal aid to states and localities is necessary to keep the economy from deteriorating further.

Nine Democratic governors have called on the president-elect to include education and healthcare spending in any stimulus proposal, saying that federal help would be necessary to prevent dramatic declines in services.

“It’s clear that the federal government needs to jump in and jumpstart the economy,” Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick said on Jan. 2.

The governors called on the federal government to provide states with $1 trillion in total aid to all 50 states.

The proposal included $250 billion in education funding and another $250 billion in Medicaid spending.

“We aren’t crying wolf,” Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland explained. “These are real circumstances, unprecedented situations we are facing.”

Despite the dire picture painted by the governors, however, education and health care both grew in 2008 – even outpacing the growth of government. Education grew by 96,600 jobs, while healthcare added an astounding 371,600 jobs last year,

Total governmental spending on all levels for health care was $760 billion in 2007, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Private health care spending was $1.2 trillion for 2007, according to HHS figures. States provided approximately $240 billion in health spending.

Education spending totaled $526 billion for 2006, the latest year for which data is available, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Local governments provided 44.4 percent of education funding. States provided 46.6 percent, and the federal government provided nine percent, according to Census figures.

All levels of government have grown steadily for the past decade, according to Labor Department statistics. The federal government has expanded by approximately 125,000 jobs on average over the past decade.

State government, absent education, grew by 138,000 jobs on average, while local governments have added 875,000 jobs on average since 1998.

These trends, which would appear to be remarkable amidst the worst recession in nearly a century, are misleading said Nicholas Johnson, director of the state fiscal project at the Center for Budget and Policy Priorities.

States and localities are still running on last year’s budgets, delaying the impact of the recession that is already gripping the private sector.

“The reason you’re not seeing the widespread layoffs is that state and local governments are still in their current-year budgets, the budgets that were passed last spring,” Johnson told CNSNews.com.

State and local governments, and the industries that depend on them, won’t feel the economic pain until next year, when the reality of drastically shrunken tax revenues fully sinks in, Johnson said.

“The big cuts are going to show up in next year’s budget,” he explained. “In the last recession, state government employment rose during the recession itself (but) after the recession was over government actually lost jobs, from 2001 to 2003.”

Florida Tries To Live With Uber-Liberal U. of F.

GAINESVILLE, Fla.A blond girl heads from a playground into a women's restroom. A scruffy man, lurking outside, darts in behind her. "Your City Commission Made This Legal," the words on the TV screen read.

The dark ad came from opponents of a gender identity provision added last year to the city's anti-discrimination ordinance, which now allows the city's roughly 100 transgender residents to use whichever restroom they're most comfortable using.

... watch the Ad below ...

Foes want to repeal the new protection with a March 24 ballot measure that has divided Gainesville, a generally gay-friendly university city surrounded by staunchly conservative north Florida.

Those who support the transgender protections say their opponents are really unleashing a broader attack on the rights of gay, lesbian and transgender individuals in general.

The city commission approved the restroom provision by a 4-3 vote a year ago. Before the ink could dry, Bible-quoting opponents angrily began working for its repeal.

"You are trying to operate in a realm you do not have the authority to operate in," one pastor, George Brantley, told the commissioners.

The debate is expected to become noisier as the ballot nears with opponents resorting to more TV ads and campaigns pegged to such slogans as "Keep Men out of Women's Restrooms and vice versa."

Organizations defending transgender rights are mustering their own campaign.
The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force notes 108 cities and counties nationwide have similar transgender protections. An attempt to repeal an ordinance in Montgomery County, Md., failed when a court ruled opponents did not collect enough signatures to place it on the ballot.

Citizens for Good Public Policy, the group behind the commercial that aired last summer in Gainesville, collected more than 6,000 signatures last summer to win a referendum. If approved, the repeal measure would also prevent the commission from adding protections beyond what the state requires: race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability and marital status.

Cain Davis, chairman of Citizens for Good Public Policy, said the issue is about regulating a "government gone wild" and ensuring public safety, charging that sexual predators could now simply enter a women's restroom claiming to be a transgender individual.

"We know when men go into women's restrooms, bad things can happen," Davis said.
City Commissioner Crag Lowe, leader of a group called Equality is Gainesville's Business, called the ads from Davis' group a grossly distorted attempt to whip up fears.

Lowe's group believes anti-discrimination protections for people who change their sexual orientation are good for business and foster diversity. He noted that 433 of the Fortune 500 companies have policies covering sexual orientation and 153 cover gender identity.

Since the ordinance took effect, police have reported no problems in public restrooms stemming from the law.

Retired postal worker Donna Lee, who became a female with surgery in 2001, moved to Gainesville from Ocala last March after hearing about the anti-discrimination ordinance. The 60-year-old is working to save the protections.

"We just want to live our lives with the basic civil rights that everyone else has," Lee said.
But some are taking no chances.

Computer programmer Clare Holman, who was born male but now lives as a female, said she simply stays away from public toilets.

"I don't want to run afoul of the law by using the wrong restroom," Holman said.

What A Wild Ride This Will Be!

A New Years Resolution? No, Just A Snapshot Of Our Future!

I predict this Political/Capitalist Oligarchy we sometimes call the United States has a wild, wild ride ahead of her. While there's nothing inherently wrong with politics, and certainly nothing inherently wrong with capitalism, the two have been combined in a form no true American would agree to.

The Oligarchs, big government and big business, will continue to ride the backs of the American people, but at a much faster, frenetic pace. If you think your back is sore now, wait - it's just beginning!

U.S. governors seek $1 trillion federal assistance

(Reuters Reports) - Governors of five U.S. states urged the federal government to provide $1 trillion in aid to the country's 50 states to help pay for education, welfare and infrastructure as states struggle with steep budget deficits amid a deepening recession.

The governors of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Ohio and Wisconsin -- all Democrats -- said the initiative for the two-year aid package was backed by other governors and follows a meeting in December where governors called on President-elect Barack Obama to help them maintain services in the face of slumping revenues.

The Kooky Left Will Become More Kooky By The Minute

Roseanne Barr blasts Israel as 'Nazi state'
Accuses Jews bombing Gaza of learning from their German 'mentors'

Emmy-award winning comedienne Roseanne Barr, herself of Jewish ancestry, has nonetheless blasted Israel for its recent attacks on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip, calling Israel a "Nazi state" bent on torturing "the Jewish soul."

"The destruction of the Jews in Israel has been assured with this inhuman attack on civilians in Gaza," Barr writes on her blog. "Exactly as its Nazi mentors did to the Jews of Warsaw, Israel now bombs innocent civilians who have been imprisoned in concentration camps in Gaza!"

She continues, "The Zionists look German! The Palestinians look like the Jews of Poland! The Jewish people have destroyed themselves in Gaza."

Her venom over the attacks, however, has not been reserved only for the Israeli state, but stings American Christians, too.

Her blog posts a picture of a bloodied and bandaged boy reportedly wounded in the recent days' airstrikes with the caption, "This is what the pro-life, right wing, neo con, evangelical, Zionist, Bible-banging Americans really mean when they say: 'America is a Christian nation,' or when they say: 'Israel must defend itself,' or when they say: 'The Bible is the Word of God.'"

Continuing Into 2009 And Beyond Will Be The Ongoing Disenfranchisement Of The American Citizen

Beginning with the news that 6 out of 10 servicemen are "wary" concerning Obama being the Commander-In-Chief , and ending with the fact that President Bush has now given the President the ability to use active duty American forces against it's own citizenry ,the future ain't lookin too bright for John Q. Public! I don't know about your federal representatives but ours in Florida ignore the people like the plague! Their purpose in life is the lining of their own pockets and the building up of government and the big business (who pays for their reelection). After all, they are the ruling elite of the Oligarchy. Finally, after about 3 years of other folks ringing the warning bell, the slow, mentally challanged RNC has accepted the fact that George W. Bush is a Socialist! Better late than never? No, not really!

... so, hang on folks! It's going to be quite the wild ride! - Tiger
