Milking It For All It's Worth - A Classic Case Of Conflict Of Interest

Criminal Behavior perhaps!

As reported in Metroactive, an online report from the Silicon Valley, Feinstein's resignation followed six years of subcommittee work during which time her alleged conflict of interest stemmed from her husband Richard C. Blum's ownership of Perini Corp. and URS Corp.

... question: should Congress just be dismissed? We need to get rid of all of them and start over.

Unwilling To Fight

Doug over at the Elephant Bar made this comment:
Doug has hit the nail on the head once again. This President is a non-fighter. He is timid and weak. Just yesterday he gave us another example:
Mr. Bush pulled the nomination of businessman Sam Fox, who helped raise $200,000 for the president's re-election campaign, as ambassador to Belgium hours before a Senate committee vote. But the White House move came weeks after Mr. Fox's $50,000 donation to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth was disclosed by Democrats on the Foreign Relations Committee.
... Mr. President, don't you know an individual is allowed to express their political leanings? Mr. Fox did NOTHING wrong, except; align himself with such a PC LIBERAL as you. Just ask Mr. Bolton. Take Ann Coulter's suggestion; STOP BEING SO DAMN SORRY FOR EVERYTHING!

Going After U.S. Attorney Johnny Sutton

The U.S. Attorney who so aggressively sought Ramos' and Compean's prosecution is now, himself, being viewed under a microscope!

The Texas Youth Commission scandal went unnoticed, says Texas Ranger Brian Burzynski, despite his numerous attempts, beginning in early 2005, to get local, state and federal prosecutors to investigate allegations teachers, administrators and guards had sex with minor male inmates.

Burzynski exposed the situation March 8 in testimony to the Texas legislature's Joint Committee on Operation and Management of the TYC. He stated he began his investigation Feb. 23, 2005, after a phone call from a teacher at the West Texas state school in Pyote, Texas, alleging another teacher at the school was involved in sexual misconduct with boy inmates.

Our Government Finances Terrorists - The State Dept. And Hamas University

How We Fund Hamas University

... where are the politicians asking Roberto Gonzales to investigate this?

By Joel MowbrayFrontPageMagazine.com March 27, 2007

How could the U.S. government be funding Hamas’s university in Gaza? It’s the question that has been asked often since my front-page story in the Washington Times earlier this month, from Capitol Hill to the State Department’s daily press briefing.

No good answer was provided—but in fairness, no good answer exists for supporting a college controlled by Hamas. The alternatives, though, aren’t much better. The sad reality of Palestinian society is that almost any university the U.S. might choose to support at a minimum has student chapters of terrorist organizations on campus.

Remember That Non-Existent North American Union? Idaho And Other States Want Out!

Lawmakers in Idaho have approved a "joint memorial" that urges the U.S. Congress to use "all efforts, energies and diligence" to get the United States out of the Security and Prosperity Partnership, a multinational plan that opponents believe is being used to blend the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

The "memorial," which is similar to a resolution, was written and adopted "to send the message to the Congress of the United States … that the First Regular Session of the Fifty-ninth Idaho Legislature … that the Congress of the United States, and particularly the congressional delegation representing the State of Idaho, are hereby urged and petitioned to use all of their efforts to withdraw the United States from any further participation in the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America and any other bilateral or multilateral activity which seeks to advance, authorize, fund or in any way promote the creation of any structure to accomplish any form of North American Union."

Other states where proposals are pending are Arizona (S.C.M. 1002), Illinois (H.J.R. 29), Georgia (S.R. 124), Missouri (S.C.R. 15 and H.C.R. 33), Montana (H.J.R. 25), Oklahoma (S.C.R. 10), Oregon (S.J.M. 5), South Carolina (S. 416 and H. 3185), South Dakota (S.C.R. 7), Tennessee (S.J.R. 88), Virginia (S.J.R. 442 and S.J.R. 387), and Washington (H.J.M. 4018 and S.J.M. 8004).

... again; if we need this for our economic future, why tell lies about its existence?

Those No-Balls, Gutless Republicans!

The Phoniest Scandal of the Century (So Far)

When will the Bush administration grow some guts? Except for its resolute — read: stubborn — position on Iraq, the White House seems incapable of standing up for itself and battling for its point of view. The Democratic assault on the administration over the dismissal of United States attorneys is the most fabricated and phony of scandals, but the Bush people offer only craven apologies, half-hearted defenses, and concessions. Instead, they should stand up to the Democrats and defend the conduct of their own Justice Department.

Why The D.C. Gun Ban Might Backfire

(CNSNews.com) - Attempts by "well-meaning members of Congress" to repeal the 1976 Washington, D.C., gun ban could backfire by keeping the case out of the U.S. Supreme Court, said attorneys representing six D.C. residents in a high-profile Second Amendment case.

Second Amendment supporters have waited many years for the right case to bring before the U.S. Supreme Court. Their goal is for the highest court in the land to interpret the Second Amendment in a way that reinforces the constitutional right of individuals to own guns.

... when the initial news came out, "D.C. Gun Ban Revoked", jubilation rang out from multiple directions. The problem is; this momentous decision must come from the Supreme Court, not a lower court.

If You Thought The North American Union Wasn't Real - Think Again!

Department of Homeland Security responsible for executing the security agenda of the SPP!

A memo signed by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff implements a controversial program condemned by critics as a precursor to a European Union-style partnership with Mexico and Canada.

The document shows the Security and Prosperity Partnership, or SPP, is being directed at the highest level of the Bush administration, says the public interest group Judicial Watch, which obtained it and other documents through a Freedom of Information Act request.

The Sept. 22, 2005, memo describes the agencies within the Department of Homeland Security responsible for executing the security agenda of the SPP.

"These new records prove the Security and Prosperity Partnership is being directed by officials at the very highest levels of the United States government," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. Fitton said Americans "should know that the SPP is a core policy initiative for many agencies in our government, including the Department of Homeland Security."

... if Bush is going to do this why lie and say it's not happeneing?

Protesters Face Vietnam Vets And Lose!

Walking home, I reflected on what the anti-war movement has degenerated into -- a squabbling collection of aging socialists, pro-Palestinian militants, and cowardly anarchists. The Vietnam vets -- who were there just to protect our monuments and show support for the troops -- had a surprising effect on the protestors. “Fight back! Fight back!” was one of the protestors’ slogans. But it was all talk. When confronted by people who actually fought and bled for their country, the protestors grew sheepish and embarrassed -- I would even say humiliated.

I couldn’t help but notice that the anarchists – the supposed hardcore fringe of the movement – waited until they were safely out of range of the veterans to burn a flag. Afraid of the vets, afraid of the cops, they don’t seem to be good for much other than occasionally smashing storefront windows when there’s no one else around.

“Whose streets? Our streets!”, they chanted. Not on Saturday they weren’t.

The Unavoidable War With Islam

Glenn Beck calls this, the building of the perfect storm. Others call it incompetence and weakness delaying the inevitable. Here it is from someone who knows - An Arab Christian.

“I have to tell you something which very few of you seem to comprehend.” He continued, “Your bungling war against a few thousand Hezbollah fighters which you should have crushed no matter what, considering the importance of the outcome, has created a completely new situation, not only for this area, but globally. Your inept leadership totally misunderstood the importance of winning this war."
“The American bungling of the war in Iraq only added to their conviction that victory not only over Israel but also over the West is not only possible, but certain. The ramifications of these two bungling wars may bring an Islamic bloody Tsunami all over the West, not only in Israel. The sharks smell blood and these two wars gave them the green light to attack sooner than they had in mind. Your problem is that you are on the defensive and they have the option to choose the time and the places when and where to attack and there is nothing much you can do about it. When will you Westerners realize that half measures don’t work with people who are willing to die by the thousands for Allah to achieve their goal? In their eyes the Western World is simply an abomination on earth that has to be wiped out.”

Last Of The Noble Romans

A Single Commander Can Make A Difference

The verdict on four years of fighting in Iraq hinges on the events of the next few months.

With the U.S. public and many politicians intensely skeptical that a changed military strategy can salvage the war, the U.S.’s new commander in Iraq, Gen. David Petraeus, must win them all over — and fast.

The Failure To Recognise The Enemy

The Myth of Moderate Mullahs

For the revolutionary clergy, and its loyal minions like Ahmadinejad, power is Allah. In clerical eyes, the new mullahs, led by Khomeini, drove the revolution. They--not the people, who often were unreliable servants of God against the shah and counterrevolutionaries--are the engine of progress. Khamenei and the ruling clerical elite will always thwart the exercise of meaningful democracy in Iran, in part because the people, repeatedly, have shown themselves unfaithful to the religious revolution. Iranians, whose capacity for ferocious religious zeal is undermined constantly by a desire for happy lethargy and little sins, cannot be trusted.
The superiority of theocracy over democracy derives not only from the clergy's greater knowledge of the Holy Law and its special, frequently charismatic role in Iranian history (Khomeini was not the first magnetic mullah in modern times), but also from the Iranian people's craving for satellite dishes and morally debased Western programming. This is one reason the early revolutionary reflex to label all Iranians and foreigners who opposed any aspect of clerical rule "criminals against God" or "enemies of Islam" came back with vigor in the late 1990s, when reformist pressure, partly unleashed by the presidential election of 1997, threatened the regime. The Iranian reform movement in the 1990s was, among other things, a self-conscious embrace of the Western conception of civil society. As weak as the reform movement actually was, it was enough to provoke Safavi to warn that the Guards Corps would "rip the tongues" out of reformers who threatened the Islamic Republic's God-ordained order.

Government Control Of Your Children In Illinois

Officials at Deerfield High School in Deerfield, Ill., have ordered their 14-year-old freshman class into a "gay" indoctrination seminar, after having them sign a confidentiality agreement promising not to tell their parents.

"This is unbelievable," said Matt Barber, policy director for cultural issues for Concerned Women for America. "It's not enough that students at Deerfield High are being exposed to improper and offensive material relative to unhealthy and high-risk homosexual behavior, but they've essentially been told by teachers to lie to their parents about it."

In what CWA called a "shocking and brazen act of government abuse of parental rights," the school's officials required the 14-year-olds to attend a "Gay Straight Alliance Network" panel discussion led by "gay" and "lesbian" upperclassmen during a "freshman advisory" class which "secretively featured inappropriate discussions of a sexual nature in promotion of high-risk homosexual behaviors."
... does this bother anyone? Or, are we all asleep at the switch?

Bush Enables Terrorism - C.A.I.R. To Meet At White House

What would you say if you knew your President supported groups linked to Terrorism? Well, it's true; and it's been happening for years!

... CAIR officials have been charged with -- and some convicted of -- offenses related to the support of terrorism, including CAIR fundraiser Rabih Haddad, founding board member Ghassan Elashi and former CAIR civil rights coordinator Randall Royer.

"We know [CAIR] has ties to terrorism," said Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat and vice chairman of the party's Senate conference. He also criticized the group for having "intimate links with Hamas."

CAIR also was named as a defendant in a class-action lawsuit relating to the September 11 attacks.

Prominent lawmakers, watchdog organizations and law-enforcement authorities insist CAIR has terrorist ties, despite the group's endorsement by Republican and Democratic leaders, including President Bush and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat. (also supported by Jeb Bush)

A True Life Story - 2 Visitations In As Many Days

Bloggers tend to report on the minutia of public news involving most everything; everything except their private personal lives. Here's an exception for you, and one that seems to relate to the "real world". I hope you enjoy it. It's true and perhaps funny!

Central Florida has wonderful weather, especially this time of the year. Temps are around 70-80 during the day, in the 50's at night, humidity is low, and there's always a cool breeze. Unless you're a stickler concerning your comfort, there's no reason to run the air conditioner. This means my windows are open during the day. It's handy, 'cause when people come knockin on the door, all I have to do is look out a kitchen window and say hi, extending out from the house as the kitchen does.

Two days ago, fairly early in the morning, clipboards at ready, a nice-looking young lady who appeared to be straight off the plane from New Delhi and a big snow-white young lad who was obviously Nordic rang the doorbell. So, I did my usual stroll through the house to the kitchen window and sat in a chair looking out. It was an awkward moment 'cause I had just lathered up my face with shaving cream. I'm sure I frightened them without intending to. "Sorry to bother you", the young lady said, "but we're conducting a survey"; "would anyone in your house be interested?" "Sure", I said; "go ahead - just ignore the shaving cream", with a silly grin on my face. "No", she said, "You have to be Filipino or Asian." "Do you have any Filipinos or Asians in the house?" "Well no", said I,” we just have Americans here." "We're not looking for Americans, we're looking for Filipinos and Asians", she repeated. "Can't they be Americans?” I retorted. “We’re only interested in how they’re being treated in this country, not if they’re American or not!” she said. I mused for a moment, thinking I would tell her about that nice Filipino lady down the street married to the retired Navy guy, but decided not to. She had been abused by our homeowners association months ago for extending her flower garden too close to the sidewalk, so the Tigress and I helped to get her elected to the board. Now she’s bringing some common sense back to the association. She is a proud American, by the way.

“No, sorry, nobody but Americans in this whole neighborhood!” smiling at the both of them. At that they walked solemnly away.

A day later, two fellows knocked on my door; a young intelligent looking white guy and a middle-aged, “been around the bend a bit too often, pot-belly”. “Do you have any Republicans here?” the younger asked. Remembering the day before, I just couldn’t resist! “No, we just have Americans here!” “Oh! A Democrat household?” he asked. “I didn’t say that.” I replied. “In fact, we’re all registered as no-party here.” (Florida has an “official” Independent Party; so to be truly independent one must register as “no-party”) “But our records show you and your family were recently Republican.” “We have a special election coming and it’s important that Republicans vote!” the youngster said. “Yes, I know about that but we can’t vote because we’re no-party; besides, the Republican Party is not conservative anymore!” I replied.
At this point what he said made the two days and the two disparate visits come together to form a basic principle, which neither group understood, “But if you re-register as a Republican it will be good for the Party!”

… “Young man” I replied, “We try to do what’s right for America, not the Party.”

At that they walked solemnly away.

The Islamization of America - Shari'a Law At University?

Students Facing Charges of 'Desecration of Allah' At San Francisco State University

College Republicans at San Francisco State University desecrated the name of Allah by stepping on makeshift Hezbollah and Hamas flags, charged school officials who brought the students before a hearing yesterday.
The trouble began at an Oct. 17 anti-terrorism rally in which the students stepped on butcher paper painted to resemble the flags of the Middle East terrorist organizations Hamas and Hezbollah. The College Republicans say they simply copied the script from an image on the Internet and didn't know it bore the name of Allah in Arabic script.
University spokeswoman Ellen Griffin, however, told San Francisco Chronicle columnist Debra J. Saunders the university "stands behind this process" of investigating the students for possible punishment.
"I don't believe the complaint is about the desecration of the flag," Griffin said. "I believe that the complaint is the desecration of Allah."
... these school officials should be arrested on charges of denying First Amendment rights. Do ya begin to understand why PC is so dangerous?

The Continuing Degradation of American Universities

... FrontPageMag is publishing a terrific 14 part study of indoctrination activities at American universities. Here is the latest installment. All 14 can be accessed here.

The function of the university is to seek and to transmit knowledge and to train students in the processes whereby truth is to be made known. To convert, or to make converts, is alien and hostile to this dispassionate duty. Where it becomes necessary in performing this function of a university, to consider political, social, or sectarian movements, they are dissected and examined, not taught, and the conclusion left, with no tipping of the scales, to the logic of the facts…. Essentially the freedom of a university is the freedom of competent persons in the classroom. In order to protect this freedom, the University assumed the right to prevent exploitation of its prestige by unqualified persons or by those who would use it as a platform for propaganda. - Robert Gordon Sproul, president of the University of California, 1934.

Rush Limbaugh Has Epiphany - Being A Political "Moinka" Is Not Enough!

Radio talk-show giant Rush Limbaugh is responding to criticism he's not doing enough for conservatives in America by asking, "What more do you people want?"

"I don't know what I can do," Limbaugh said during his nationally broadcast program today, "about Republicans who win elections and then go to Washington and act like wimps and wusses and refuse to stand up for themselves and refuse to govern on the very concepts they campaigned on, other than vote 'em out, other than get rid of 'em when they won't play the game according to the rules set by the aggressor – which in war you must."

Limbaugh addressed the subject after receiving a call from Barbara, a listener in Frontenac, Mo., who said the U.S. "is in serious trouble and that liberals are trying to destroy it."
She told Limbaugh conservatives were allowing liberals to succeed, and that's when she called on the host to do more for his cause.

"You have stated on air before that you, for one, have the power to effect political change in this country, and not through elective office," Barbara said. "I want to know when you are going to use that power you have and do something about our situation, other than what you are doing – which, although is valuable, is not going to stop the liberals."

... on more than one occasion, recently, I've tuned into Rush to hear him ranting and raving about intrusive big government, obfuscating politicians, and elected officials not listening to the people that elected them. In my mind he was talking about Republicans and I was pleased that Rush was finally holding some feet to the fire! Only after listening awhile did I realize that he was talking about Democrats; a no-brainer "duh" for most conservatives.

Rush... your problem is you're for Party only - not for Freedom! When the Repubs become as bad as Democrats (and they have) it's time to crank up the heat. You or Sean hannity are not doing that. Therefore, you're both becoming political "Monikas".

I sincerely hope this has been a true epiphany for you! ...

El Bush's Pals In Saudi Arabia

You Just Gotta Love Those Saudis!

A 19-year-old Saudi woman who was kidnapped, beaten and gang raped by seven men who then took photos of their victim and threatened to kill her, was sentenced under the country's Islamic-based law to 90 lashes for the "crime" of being alone with a man not related to her.

Update: U.S. Navy Prohibiting First Amendment Rights - Litigation Almost Assured

The U.S. Navy has confirmed officials made a deliberate decision to block WorldNetDaily's news from computers on Navy and Marine bases nationwide, but in a prepared statement said it had nothing to do with the "content" or "views" of the Web's leading independent news site.

Joseph Farah said, "While I was optimistic we would be able to resolve this censorship by the Navy amicably and quickly, it appears that is not the case," Farah said. "It appears we will be forced to litigate this blatant First Amendment violation and seek compensatory damages from the taxpayers of the United States. That is very sad indeed. But WND has proved its willingness to fight for freedom of speech in the past and we will uphold that tradition in the future no matter what the cost. I now urge every concerned American to protest this unprecedented and unwarranted muzzling of WND by the Department of Defense and the government of the United States."

Christianity May Become A Hate Crime In The U.S.

The newest threat is being prepared by U.S. Rep. John Conyers, the head of the House Judiciary Committee, whose work is being called "The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007," according to the Rev. Ted Pike, of the National Prayer Network.
He said a letter to other members of the House was intercepted by Focus on the Family and indicated that it "gives the federal government even more power to create a bias motivation justice system, turning America into a police state."

"Truth is not allowed as evidence in hate crimes trials. … A homosexual can claim emotional damage from hearing Scripture that describes his lifestyle as an abomination. He can press charges against the pastor or broadcaster who merely reads the Bible in public. The 'hater' can be fined thousands of dollars and even imprisoned!"

Mars Is Melting! - Did Al Gore Build A House There?

Mars Melt Hints at Solar, Not Human, Cause for Warming, Scientist Says

Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet's recent climate changes have a natural—and not a human- induced—cause, according to one scientist's controversial theory.
Earth is currently experiencing rapid warming, which the vast majority of climate scientists says is due to humans pumping huge amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. (Get an overview: "Global Warming Fast Facts".)

Mars, too, appears to be enjoying more mild and balmy temperatures.

... Al, you need to buy more carbon offsets - how in the hell did ya screw up Mars too!?!

Seeing Two Americas; Hedonistic and Moral - The Republicans AND Democrats Are Both Hedonistic

"It's been said that there are two Americas, and what I'd argue is that if there are two Americas, we're not divided economically, we're divided morally," Wendy Wright, president of the group Concerned Women for America, said during a panel discussion entitled "Beyond Our Pocketbooks: Social Issues and the Conservative Movement."

... this article describes nicely why we're becoming Romans in every sense ...

Update: U.S. Navy Purposely Blocking WNDaily

Barbara Mendoza of EDS marketing strategy and communications said her company runs the Navy Marine Corps Intranet, servicing bases in those two military branches across the nation. But after checking, she says her system is not responsible for the trouble that has prompted a flood of military service member contacts with WND about why they are not able to access the site.

... Joseph Farah downplaying the move ...

WND founder Joseph Farah has said he doubts the block was the result of political activism, even though one cannot be certain until the investigation is complete.
"I don't want to make accusations or cast aspersions on anyone associated with the U.S. Navy or U.S. Marines, two great military institutions I revere," he said. "It's a very unfortunate situation. It has seriously hurt WND's ability to grow and compete. But as long as this situation is resolved quickly and doesn't occur again, I'm sure we at WND will simply be grateful the error was corrected. We are just looking forward to rebuilding our once substantial audience among sailors and Marines."

WND, a fiercely independent news site, was launched 10 years ago by Joseph and Elizabeth Farah, and for more than 100 weeks in a row was listed as the No. 1 most popular website in the world by Global 100.

Just within the last few weeks, Internet audience ratings service comScore Media Metrix said WND's traffic growth was No. 1 among all political news sources and No. 2 among all sites related to politics in any way.
