The Light in John's Eyes

The gospel of John is one of my favorite books in the bible. Of course, "John" is a favorite of many and is probably the most recommended bible book for folks who have never read their bible, but wish to start.

A richness and depth of spirit leaps from the pages of this gospel. It's a book which should be read with sincere reflection for it's words can be traced directly through the Holy Spirit to Torah to Yehovah/Yeshua Himself. (don't they all?)

... just simply read the intro and you'll see what I mean - notice the color highlights, more on this later:

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He [Jesus] was in the beginning with God.

All things came into being through Him [Yeshua], and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. He [John] came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. He [John] was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.

There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man.

He [Yeshua] was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

He [Yeshua] came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him.

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

So much can be said at this point, but for the sake of brevity I'll forgo a dissertation!  : )  However, let's start at the "beginning".  The Hebrew word for "upon beginning" is pronounced B'eresheet.  We might say "Genesis".

"In the beginning was the Word, ..."

John, through the influence of Yehovah', is telling us that the Word of God was present always, even upon the beginning of all things - as we humans can understand it.

"and the Word was God ..."

Yehovah' IS God and His Word IS and speaks of God!  What "Word" existed when John and the other Apostles wrote the B'rit Hadashah, the "New" Testament?  Only one Word existed for them to make reference to - TORAH and the Prophets!  Yehovah' IS Torah! Yehovah' IS the beginning and end to all things.  The Alpha and Omega - the Aleph and the Tav. (Rev. Ch. 1, 21, 22)

"He [Jesus] was in the beginning with God. ... ,

All things came into being through Him [Yeshua], ...

and the life was the Light of men. , ...

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us,"

Yeshua (Jesus) was there in the beginning with God, He was the "Light", He was the Creator, He became flesh and dwelt among us - to save us, to be our sacrifice for sins. Jesus IS the living, breathing, walking Torah!  A human representation of Abba just for us here on earth.  Yeshua IS Yehovah' !  Do you begin to understand when some Christians say we don't have to follow Torah they are really saying we don't have to follow Yehovah' - Yeshua?  And if you deny Torah you are denying Jesus and YWVH (Yehovah')?

Now, let's look at B'eresheet (Genesis):

Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and void, and darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters.

Then God said, "Let there be light"; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.

Gen 1:5 God called the light day, and the darkness He called night. And there was evening and there was morning, one day.

...

Gen 1:14 Then God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night, and let them be for signs and for seasons and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so.

God made the two great lights, the greater light to govern the day, and the lesser light to govern the night; He made the stars also.

God placed them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness; and God saw that it was good.

Gen 1:19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day.

Did you notice what happens here? In Genesis 1:3 God creates light.  This is on day 1 folks!  Then, later, on day 4 He creates light again, to rule the day, night, and "space" (the stars).

Many have argued this first light is Yeshua/Jesus!  Without getting into argument over Jesus being "created", let's consider again what John has stated.

Yeshua was there from the beginning and participated in the creation.  This dual nature of God is nothing new and is written about by the sages of old and in the Talmud.  We know also that God can be seen as triune; Father, Son, Holy Spirit.  This also is referenced throughout Torah.  It makes for a long and enjoyable study and many references can be found online (a study of "3"s and "2"s in the Tanakh).

Some people have argued with me and said that this "Light" does exist in the world anymore.  These two ladies in the video would disagree with that - and so would I!
