Bob Dylan on PBS

It was very interesting to see the young Robert Zimmerman on film and to hear the Bob Dylan of today talk about his start. Being 11 years younger than Dylan I didn't know much about his beginnings in folk music and I was especially surprised to see him with a beautiful, young Joan Baez. The look back included the Grenwich Village coffee house, beat years with poets and folk singers, communists, anarchists, and socialists. What an assortment of characters he consorted with; Alan Ginsberg, Pete Seegur and others. At times, I got the impression and in fact one man on the documentary said that Dylan was apolitical. But then he turned to writing some very good protest songs. Part two is on tonight.
