"This is a matter of deep and profound judgment," he said in a speech at Houston Baptist University. "It's a matter of morals. It's a matter of your interpretation of how laws should operate, your interpretation of how respect for the rights of others should operate.
"But in a country like ours ... I believe you have to respect their viewpoint and give them a level of choice. I would grant women the right to make that choice."
... Mr. "G" is wrong on several counts; Murder is Not a Choice, Abortion is NOT a Right, his Divergence from Conservatives on issues Does Disqualify him, and Bad Laws should be Stricken or Changed. You're running as a candidate for the wrong party, "G". Then again, perhaps you're not!

tiger,
Since most of the Republican candidates for president have abandoned, if they ever really held, Republican principles, they cannot rely upon the Republican base for support. It was, after all, the abandonment of principles over time that led the Republican base to turn the party out of office last fall. Republican voters will do the same in 2008, if the party continues to push the current batch of RINOs.
It strikes me that there are few genuine Dems or Repubs; instead, there is a large school of DINOs and RINOs seeking to capitalize on that one wedge issue that will garner the essential 5% undecided (independent) sliver needed to win election.
I would say you're correct. Neither party has any principle.
Some would argue that principle be damned; that it's time to be practical. I've heard that argument my entire voting life, and yes, I started voting at 18. However, "being practical" has never seemed to create or foster genuine leadership in either party.
The Libertarian Party is a blooming mess, so that's no place to go.
It's truly time for a new political party. I suppose that's what Hitler said in the early 30s. This could turn out to be really frightening!
... more so than it already is ...
