Concerned over Hillary Clinton’s slide in the polls and angry with some of the decisions made by her team, Bill Clinton is rushing in to shake up his wife’s campaign.

“She’s in big trouble and he knows it,” one Democratic operative told the New York Daily News.
Bill is “unhappy” and “very agitated,” according to sources close Hillary’s campaign, and worried that she could lose the Democratic nomination if there are no major changes in strategy and staffing.

The former president is considering “a lot of different ideas and a lot of different scenarios to fix this,” a source close to Bill told the Daily News.

Another source criticized recent Clinton campaign ads as lacking focus, and Bill has reportedly been “yelling at [chief strategist] Mark Penn a lot,” the News reports.

While insiders say a major staff purge is likely, Hillary herself has dismissed the talk, saying, “These stories are false. I have the best staff in the country.”

In any case, one Clinton operative said: “Nothing will happen until after Iowa,” referring to the Jan. 3 caucuses there.

Liberal Revisionists Vilify All Things Distinctly American

Congressman Pete Stark has apologized for saying that President Bush finds “amusement” in the spectacle of American troops getting “their heads blown off” in Iraq. Yet his comments have been embraced by many of the president’s detractors, among them bloggers at The Huffington Post and Daily Kos.

It is not hard to see why. Congressman Stark’s words are faithful to a particular way of looking at America and its place in history — are faithful to what might be called the “liberal interpretation of history.

”The liberal interpretation of history holds that the United States is not merely a flawed country — all countries are flawed — but a deeply flawed one. It was founded by statesmen who subscribed to a deeply flawed philosophy; statesmen who believed that all men are created equal, and that all men are entitled to life, liberty, and the fruits of their industry.

The founders of the United States, it is true, did not always live up to their philosophy. But by placing its principles in the Declaration of Independence, they preserved it, as Abraham Lincoln said, for all time, so that “to-day, and in all coming days, it shall be a rebuke and a stumbling-block to the very harbingers of reappearing tyranny and oppression.”

In the view of those who subscribe to the liberal interpretation of history, the philosophy of the Declaration is antiquated. According to the liberal interpretation, all men are created equal, except for blacks, Native Americans, Alaskan natives, Hispanics, and Asian and Pacific Islanders, who are racially challenged and must be classed apart from everyone else. (Native Hawaiians will be added to the list if the Akaka Bill becomes law.) All are entitled to life, except for those whose hearts beat in the womb; to liberty, except for those who require the supervision of the nanny state; to the fruits of their industry, except for those who have made a certain amount of money and are obligated to hand a disproportionate chunk of it over to the government each year.

Central to the liberal interpretation of history is the belief that a country founded on so flawed a philosophy cannot, as a rule, be a force for good in the world. Accordingly, when the United States acts in the world it most often acts not for good, but for evil.

Hollywood filmmakers normally inclined to support candidates such as Sen. Hillary Clinton are working quietly behind the scenes to put the finishing touches on a documentary alleging the New York Democrat committed felonies to get elected and assisted her husband in defrauding a major donor.

"The producers are essentially liberal Hollywood Democrats who fear exposure and retribution," said Jim Nesfield, director of the Equal Justice Foundation of America, which is sponsoring the hour-long film, "Hillary Uncensored."

Over the past two weeks, the trailer for the documentary became the No. 1-most viewed piece on Google's video site, even though it was unlisted. The 13-minute video was posted July 18 but only recently became exposed through blog references, and it now has more than 860,000 views.

Democrats Want Intelligence To Be Deaf and Blind

Asked what scares him the most, Bond says, “What really scares me the most is the left wing of the Democratic party, particularly some House members backed up by the ACLU [American Civil Liberties Union] and other groups and the liberal national media, which is using unnecessary scare tactics to take away the tools that we need to fight terrorists.”

If House Democrats and a large portion of the media have their way, American intelligence targeting terrorists would become “deaf and blind,” Sen. Kit Bond tells Newsmax.
As vice chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, Bond has an inside track to that secret world. Yet when the ranking minority member of the intelligence committee tries to correct misimpressions created by the media, he is usually ignored.

In a wide-ranging interview, the Missouri Republican said House Democrats are threatening Americans’ safety by erecting roadblocks that make it difficult to find clues to the next terrorist attack.

In particular, Bond cites a House of Representatives’ revision of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). The Democrats’ bill, now being considered by the Senate, says no warrant would be required before intercepting communications between callers in foreign countries. But that is misleading because there is usually no way to tell if an individual is about to place calls to the U.S. For that reason, Bond says, the Democrats’ bill would require a warrant before listening in on a call by Osama bin Laden to an al-Qaeda cell group in the United States about, for example, the timing of a simultaneous attack on London, Madrid, Munich and Washington.

“We have no way of knowing where the hell he’s going to call or where he’s going to email,” Bond says. “Until you tap it and maybe get a helluva lot more information, you don’t know whether the communication is foreign-to-foreign or foreign-to-domestic. Under the House Democrats’ law, the National Security Agency (NSA) would have to go to the FISA court before listening to bin Laden’s calls.”

Because of a ruling by a court judge on May 31, since most telecommunications now pass through U.S. switching systems, if bin Laden made a call within Pakistan, a court order was required before listening to his conversation. During the months the ruling was in effect, U.S. intelligence was missing up to two-thirds of calls it should have been intercepting, according to intelligence sources.

The ruling delayed by nine and a half hours interception of calls by insurgents who captured American soldiers from the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division in Iraq. During that time, officials scrambled to line up legal justifications to listen in.

... Liberals are hopping mad because Rush Limbaugh referred to phony soldiers as "phony soldiers." They claim he was accusing all Democrats in the military of being "phony."

True, all Democrats in the military are not phony soldiers, but all phony soldiers seem to be Democrats.

If we are to believe the self-descriptions of callers to talk radio and the typical soldier interviewed on MSNBC, the military is fairly bristling with Moveon.org types.

The reality is quite the opposite. While liberals have managed to worm themselves into every important institution in America, from the public schools to the CIA to charitable foundations, they are shamefully absent from the military.

In addition to famous fake soldiers promoted by the anti-war crowd, like Jesse MacBeth and "Winter Soldier" Al Hubbard, even liberals with actual military experience are constantly being caught in the middle of some liberal hoax.

Al Gore endlessly bragged to the media about his service in Vietnam. "I took my turn regularly on the perimeter in these little firebases out in the boonies. Something would move, we'd fire first and ask questions later," he told Vanity Fair. And then we found out Gore had a personal bodyguard in Vietnam, the most dangerous weapon he carried was a typewriter, and he left after three months. Although to his credit, Gore did not put in for a Purple Heart for the carpal tunnel syndrome he got from all that typing.

Speaking of which, John Kerry claimed to be a valiant, Purple Heart-deserving Vietnam veteran, who spent Christmas 1968 in Cambodia -- until he ran for president and more than 280 Swift Boat Veterans called him a liar. We've been waiting more than 20 months for Kerry to make good on his "Meet the Press" pledge to sign form 180, which would allow the military to release his records.

Then there was Bill Burkett, who gave CBS the phony National Guard documents; Scott Thomas Beauchamp, The New Republic's fantasist anti-war "Baghdad Diarist"; and Max Cleland, whose injuries were repeatedly and falsely described as a result of enemy fire.

Liberals will even turn a war hero like Pat Tillman into an anti-war cause celebre posthumously -- so he can't disagree. Tillman died in a friendly fire incident that occurred -- unlike Max Cleland's accident -- during actual combat with the enemy.

Because they are screaming, hysterical women, liberals treat friendly fire like a drunk driving accident. But friendly fire has been a part of war from time immemorial.

Liberals have an insane, litigious view of the military: There's been an accident in warfare, let's sue! It's as mad as the line from "Dr. Strangelove": "Gentlemen! No fighting in the War Room!" Golly jeepers, accidents can't happen in a war!

... In his book "Faith of My Fathers," John McCain describes how demoralized American prisoners of war in Vietnam were when they didn't hear any bombing for years. Finally, after a long bombing halt, Nixon renewed aerial bombing of North Vietnam in December 1972.

Our bombers couldn't know with precision where the enemy was holding (and torturing) our troops. McCain and the rest of those POWs could easily have been hit and killed by an American bomb.

But the POWs weren't denouncing the U.S. military for risking their lives with "friendly fire." They weren't crying Mommy, investigate this! Get me a trial lawyer! If their camp had been hit by American bombs, it would have been as the POWs were shouting: "God bless President Nixon!"

That's from their own mouths; that's what's in their hearts. Friendly fire -- to a nation that hasn't lost its wits -- is part of waging war.

If Democrats don't want to hear about "phony soldiers," maybe they should stop trying to edify us with these bathos-laden hoaxes.

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s campaign said yesterday that it would give to charity $23,000 it had received from a prominent Democratic donor, and review thousands of dollars more that he had raised, after learning that the authorities in California had a warrant for his arrest stemming from a 1991 fraud case.

The donor, Norman Hsu, has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Democratic candidates since 2003, and was slated to be co-host next month for a Clinton gala featuring the entertainer Quincy Jones.

... also, Nearly 2 million documents pertaining to Sen. Hillary Clinton's years as first lady — phone logs, schedules, memoranda — are locked up in Little Rock, Ark. It would be completely legal for them to remain under wraps. But voters looking to 2008 can reasonably demand to know what they paid for the last time they sent Mrs. Clinton to the White House. It would very convenient for the junior senator from New York, and a serious disservice to voters, if such a large gap in her public record were to continue through November 2008.

... It is time for Mrs. Clinton to set the standard. Even a candidate with nothing to hide would not seek this electoral wild card. But if "my record" and "Clinton's experience" are to be the watchwords of this particular campaigner, then the public has a clear and compelling right to compare the records against the rhetoric.

Do you notice how prominent Democrats are now coming out FOR the Surge? Do you notice how they're doing it in a coordinated way, making sure several people announce the "good news" around the same time? Something good must be happening in Iraq; at least, by Washington standards.

... Clinton said new tactics have brought some success against insurgents, particularly in Iraq's Anbar province.

"It's working. We're just years too late in changing our tactics," she said. "We can't ever let that happen again. We can't be fighting the last war. We have to keep preparing to fight the new war."

Top Senate Democrats have started to acknowledge progress in Iraq, with the chairman of the Armed Services Committee yesterday saying the U.S. troop surge is producing "measurable results."

Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan highlighted improved security in Baghdad and al Qaeda losses in Anbar province as examples of success — a shift for Democrats who have mainly discounted or ignored advances on the battlefield for weeks.

... The measure of success in Iraq has shifted many times, ranging from establishment of a "democratic" style government in Iraq to simple stability by bringing terrorist attacks to a halt. Just what is the "end game" in Iraq and Afghanistan? Well, whenever we do pull out Troops from these countries the result will be as if absolutely nothing has ever taken place. The defining factor in this world-wide battle is ISLAM. As long as Islam exists, these areas of operation will eventually revert back to their old ways, this time with a renewed, stronger vengence against the West.

History has shown that when a country fights a war to subdue an enemy only; when it fights to cause an ememy to draw back and think twice before it attacks again; then that enemy will eventually come back stronger and more hateful than ever before.

Wars must never be fought to simply subdue and warn. They must be fought with all-out effort to result in complete and utter capitulation and humiliating defeat for the enemy. We have not even come close to this in the last few years. Our war colleges need to be shut down - they are as inept as our public schools. Everyone arm yourselves now, in a big way, because we will someday have to fight along side our neighbors, protecting ourselves from the Muslim enemy AND the centralized one at home.

Fresh from their all-night effort to force surrender on the U.S. military in Iraq, some Democrats on Capitol Hill appear intent on using the dark-of-night (figuratively, if not literally) to another, grievous misdeed: Trying to eliminate one of the most important anti-terror provisions adopted by Congress since 9/11. This legislation is the so-called “King amendment,” which is designed to ensure that public-spirited citizens are not discouraged, let alone penalized, for doing their civic duty by informing the authorities of activities that could be associated with terrorism.

The Justice, State and Homeland Security Departments have all made it clear they want to help other countries prevent terrorism. They're not nearly as clear about how they plan to do that.

Such lack of clarity leaves U.S. agencies unsure about their international responsibilities and may have compromised several counter-terrorism operations overseas, a new government report says.

The Government Accountability Office cited in its report several examples of U.S. agencies not cooperating, or even communicating, during overseas missions.

For example:

-When the State Department launched a program in 2002 to help monitor migration across a terrorist-rich border, planners never consulted U.S. border patrol or immigration officials who have expertise in the field. No terrorists have been prosecuted as part of the program.

-In another unidentified country, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials were assigned to track special-interest aliens while the FBI was in charge of identifying terrorists trying to enter the United States. Because of poor coordination and communication, both agencies moved in on the same person, possibly jeopardizing several investigations.

-Approval of three full-time U.S. border agents in a terrorist-rich country has been delayed. The ambassador there believes the agents should work alongside locals at airports and immigration offices, rather than at the embassy.

Just Another "Duh"- Bate: The Dems Point Fingers

The three Democratic presidential front-runners last night took turns jabbing one another and President Bush, with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton blaming the Iraq war on the president and a tense exchange between Sen. Barack Obama and former Sen. John Edwards.

The second debate of the 2008 White House hopefuls allowed the front-runners to differentiate themselves, but it also gave the lesser-known candidates a chance to outline their plans for the country.

Mr. Edwards, of North Carolina, has pressured his rivals to cut off funding for the war. He says the recent Democratic Iraq war spending bill was a "moment of truth" and accused Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama of "standing quiet" instead of taking a stand on Iraq.

"It's the difference between leading and following," Mr. Edwards said during the debate, held in New Hampshire and televised nationally on CNN. "All of us have a responsibility to lead ... not just on Iraq, but on health care, on energy, on all the other issues."

Among the 2008 Democratic hopefuls, Mrs. Clinton and Mr. Obama voted against the funding bill, as did Sen. Christopher J. Dodd of Connecticut and Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich of Ohio.

"I opposed this war from the start," Mr. Obama, of Illinois, fired back at Mr. Edwards, adding: "You're about 4? years late on leadership on this issue. It's important not to play politics on something that is as critical and as difficult as this."

Those Barons of B.S. - Democrats

The Senate yesterday overwhelmingly rejected a bid to pull out troops from Iraq and cut off funds for combat, a bruising defeat for Majority Leader Harry Reid that highlights the Democratic split over how far to go in opposing the war.

The amendment, which was co-sponsored by Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat, died in a 67-29 procedural vote, with 47 Republicans, 19 Democrats and one independent blocking the plan to start a troop withdrawal in 120 days and cut off funds March 31 to most military operations in Iraq.
