Murder, Marines and Murtha

If it is true that a few Marines did in fact murder twenty odd "innocent" civilians, I would guess that this figure is still less than 1% of the total murdered after the last Iraqi election. I'm not trying to excuse illegal actions, the guilty must be punished. I am merely offering context and contrast. Contrast our values regarding justice with the wanton attitude of the terrorists; They sanction murder, we do not. If the world cannot honestly weigh our good efforts and motives against our missteps, it is because they refuse to do so.

Congressman Murtha has not only rushed to judgment but has once again done so with the most base of political motives. One can only conclude that he has "imbibed the kool-aid" and is now engaged on the side of those opposed to the US. W. Thomas Smith, Jr, himself a former Marine, has called for Murtha "to do the only honorable thing: relinquish his sword and his Eagle, Globe, and Anchor. At the very least, he should apologize to the Marine Corps and the American people for making an utterly outlandish statement in an attempt to keep the fire hot in the cut-and-run camp, of which he is a primary stoker."

Murtha has again aided the enemy and earned his place in history with Fonda and Kerry. Putting their motives aside, the effect of their actions has been to lead credence to the propaganda and promote the causes of our enemies. Kerry and Murtha should have known better and must not be excused.

Murtha's high profile as a US Congressman and "distinguished veteran" will be cited by the World in the on-going effort to isolate and shun the U.S. as a pariah. But now is not the time to grovel. Good men know the value of the work performed by our military not only in Iraq but around the world. On this Memorial Day weekend, we should not hang our heads in shame before those that will not acknowledge the truth. We should proudly honor our fallen dead who paid the ultimate price while serving the "Good."

Those that don't like it can go to hell.

Murtha needs to learn to keep his mouth shut until all the facts come out.

We don't know if the "civilians" killed were aiding the terrorists, we don't know if they were in the line of fire because they were helping the terrorists, we don't know if they were killed accidentally, we don't know if the bad guys placed them in the line of fire purposely, etc.

All these facts matter. Just ask guys who have been there. When gunfire comes from a house at you, bullets and grenades go at that house, around that corner, down that side street; WITH A VENGENCE, WITH EXTREME PREDJUDICE! It's called SURVIVAL!

No, we don't bomb cities anymore, like Dresden, but this stuff happens in WAR!

MURTHA! Shut your mouth! Let's hear the facts first. Let the military do their investigation. MURTHA! Stop aiding and abetting the enemy!
