No Time To Rest - Declare "War" On Your Senators!

Rich Lowry has advised the U.S. Senate to get used to citizen involvement, AND, to install more phone lines!

It's also the right time to do something else; declare "war" on your Senator who voted for illegal immigration! I have two very odoriferous, misleading, far-left, anti-American scum in my "sights"; Mel "the Chameleon" Martinez and Bill "the Commie" Nelson. Starting now, I will do everything in my power within the judicious restraints of law and order to remove them from office. We also have a Representative in my district that needs to go; Ric "Baby Face" Keller, a most egregious character of ill-repute!

All citizenry from the "glorious 50" are hereby called to duty! Start your campaigns now, plan them well, be relentless in your attack, give no quarter, ignore party affiliation; pull their "political skeleton" right out of their skins!

DO IT AMERICA!

Doing The Right Thing In Florida

Fla. Sheriff's Illegal Alien Task Force Questioned

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. -- The sheriff's department has developed a remarkably effective - and controversial - way of catching illegal immigrants: Deputies in patrol cars pull up to a construction site in force, and watch and see who runs.

Those who take off are chased down and arrested on charges such as trespassing, for cutting through someone else's property, or loitering, for hiding out in someone's yard, or reckless driving, for speeding off in a car.

U.S. immigration authorities are then given the names of those believed to be in this country illegally.

"It's not wrong for them to run, but it's not wrong for us to chase them either," said Sheriff Frank McKeithen, who created his Illegal Alien Task Force in April to target construction sites in this Florida Panhandle county.

... As the debate over illegal immigration plays out in Washington, McKeithen is among a growing number of state and local officials taking it upon themselves to enforce immigration laws that up to now were regarded as a federal responsibility.

Brave New World - New Gun Control: Shut Down Shops

Store Says Feds Confiscating Licenses for Inadvertent Trivia

The government is using paperwork errors as small as the abbreviation of a city name to shut down some of the nation's longest-serving gun shops, and 2nd Amendment advocates fear the right to bear arms will mean little if there's no way to obtain a gun.

"No good deed goes unpunished," Larry Pratt, of Gun Owners of America, told WND while confirming that as recently as 15 or 20 years ago, there were 250,000 licensed gun dealers in the United States.

Today, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives told WND, there are 108,381, and if more cases involving dealers such as Red's Trading Post of Twin Falls, Idaho, develop, that number will plummet quickly.

Ryan Horsley, a spokesman for Red's, which has been in business 71 years, said the store has been battling over its license because of rules infractions such as a missing poster for more than six years.

He's launched an online petition asking Congress to intervene and halt the "blatant targeting of law abiding dealers." It also seeks a "fair, constitutional and speedy appeals process" and has attracted thousands of signatures.

His company also has a federal lawsuit pending against the ATF over its announcement that Red's firearms dealership license was being withdrawn.

Attorney Mark Geston said the case asks the court to review the statute and the "propriety" of the decision that was made.

Horsley said the reason Red's is facing a revocation is – at most – insignificant paperwork mistakes.

... just recently, the NRA (National Rifle Association) agreed to support H.R. 2640 passed, on June 13 by the U.S. House of Representatives. H.R. 2640 prohibits firearm purchases by those who have been adjudicated by a court as mentally defective or as a danger to themselves or others. Additionally, H.R. 2640 makes needed, and long overdue, improvements to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS). I disagree with NRA on this and WILL NOT renew my membership when it expires. Instead, I will join the G.O.A. (Gun Owners of America). What appears to be a sensible thing, not allowing mentally ill people the right to have firearms, is actually a new weapon to be used against us. What they don't tell you is that this ruling can be applied to ANYONE! All that's needed is collaboration of anti-gun physician/psychologists to present their opinions to a judge and your second amendment rights are gone. This is a very slippery slope which I predict will be used and abused way beyond its intended scope. The NRA should be ashamed. I recommend all NRA members to move over to GOA. And, when your doctor asks, "Do you own a gun?", say NO!

The Main Problems with H.R. 2640 can be found here.

Bush Admits Immigration Bill Is Amnesty - Then We Get The Snowjob

Report: Border Open for Terrorists!

Bush the Deceiver

The Justice, State and Homeland Security Departments have all made it clear they want to help other countries prevent terrorism. They're not nearly as clear about how they plan to do that.

Such lack of clarity leaves U.S. agencies unsure about their international responsibilities and may have compromised several counter-terrorism operations overseas, a new government report says.

The Government Accountability Office cited in its report several examples of U.S. agencies not cooperating, or even communicating, during overseas missions.

For example:

-When the State Department launched a program in 2002 to help monitor migration across a terrorist-rich border, planners never consulted U.S. border patrol or immigration officials who have expertise in the field. No terrorists have been prosecuted as part of the program.

-In another unidentified country, Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials were assigned to track special-interest aliens while the FBI was in charge of identifying terrorists trying to enter the United States. Because of poor coordination and communication, both agencies moved in on the same person, possibly jeopardizing several investigations.

-Approval of three full-time U.S. border agents in a terrorist-rich country has been delayed. The ambassador there believes the agents should work alongside locals at airports and immigration offices, rather than at the embassy.

Coming To A Community Near You - A Constitution-Free Zone

Atlanta officials declare Constitution-free zone'Your message is not congruent,' so leave public property or be arrested

The city of Atlanta has created a Constitution-free zone on public property for this weekend's 2007 Atlanta Pride festival, according to pastors and lawyers who have been trying to secure an assurance that Christians' free-speech rights will be protected.

"The Constitution does not apply in Piedmont Park this weekend," attorney Joel Thornton, of the International Human Rights Group told WND.

"The city of Atlanta, whose attorneys I have been negotiating with for the past six months, has just sent me a letter saying that they 'will not be able to offer you or your client[s] any assistance in this matter,'" he said.

The Country Is Going To The Dogs!

Dog Registered to Vote: It's So Easy!
(HT: Tigress)
The second time Duncan M. MacDonald sent in an absentee ballot, an election worker in Federal Way, Wash., called to ask about the paw print on the envelope. But it took three ballots before the prosecutor contacted the voting dog's owner.

Jane Balogh said she registered the Australian shepherd-terrier mix to vote in protest of a 2005 state voter-registration law that she says makes it too easy for noncitizens to vote.
She put her phone bill in Duncan's name, then used the phone bill as identification to register him as a voter.

"I wasn't trying to do anything fraudulent. I was trying to prove that our system is flawed. So I got myself in trouble," she says.

Prosecutors have offered the grandmother and Army veteran a deal: plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of making a false statement to a public official and they will not file a felony charge of providing false information on a voter-registration application.

What Took "Em So Long? The House Does Something Right About Bush's Buddys!

House Votes to Ban Aid to Saudi Arabia
The U.S. House of Representatives voted on Friday to prohibit any aid to Saudi Arabia as lawmakers accused the close ally of religious intolerance and bankrolling terrorist organizations.

The prohibition, reflecting persistent tensions with the kingdom after the September 11 attacks on the United States in 2001, was attached to a foreign aid funding bill for next year that has not yet been debated by the Senate.

It also faces a veto threat from the White House because of an unrelated provision.

A spokesman for the Saudi embassy in Washington declined to comment on the legislation.

Weird Episcopalian News

From the Seattle Times: (hattip Teresita at the EB)

"I am both Muslim and Christian"

By Janet I. Tu
Seattle Times religion reporter

Shortly after noon on Fridays, the Rev. Ann Holmes Redding ties on a black headscarf, preparing to pray with her Muslim group on First Hill.

On Sunday mornings, Redding puts on the white collar of an Episcopal priest.

She does both, she says, because she's Christian and Muslim.

Redding, who until recently was director of faith formation at St. Mark's Episcopal Cathedral, has been a priest for more than 20 years. Now she's ready to tell people that, for the last 15 months, she's also been a Muslim — drawn to the faith after an introduction to Islamic prayers left her profoundly moved.

Her announcement has provoked surprise and bewilderment in many, raising an obvious question: How can someone be both a Christian and a Muslim?
This "takes the cake." Can you spell apostate?

George al Bush - Death To America!

Why is an employee of a "charity" that finances terrorism serving on a U.S. bipartisan panel on Religious Freedom?

When is a moderate Muslim not a moderate Muslim? How about if he is an employee of a Saudi Wahhabi organization that has been identified by the Senate Finance Committee as one of a long list of Islamic charities that “finance terrorism and perpetuate violence”?

Last month, the White House appointed Talal Eid, an imam from Quincy, Massachusetts, to the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, a bipartisan panel that, according to the Boston Globe, “monitors religious freedom in countries around the world and recommends policies to the president, State Department, and Congress.” Eid is also participating in goodwill missions overseas for the State Department. Ishan Bagby, a University of Kentucky professor and member of the board of directors of the Islamic Society of North America, was pleased with the appointment: “It’s a very good sign that a mainstream, moderate Muslim leader like Imam Eid can be appointed to such a position.” Ibrahim Hooper of the Council on American Islamic Relations was pleased also, saying that Eid would bring “valuable perspective” to the Commission.

Eid was forced out of his position as imam of the Islamic Center of New England’s mosque in Quincy in July 2005, some said because he was too moderate. The Bush Administration has been determined since September 11, 2001 to find moderate Muslims with whom it could work and to whom it could show public support; unfortunately, however, in this quest it has sometimes been less discriminating than it should have been, and the case of Talal Eid is a prime example of this.

Betraying America Por La Raza!

On June 10, the Justice Department announced that three Texas National Guard members helping to patrol the Mexican border had been charged with human smuggling. One of the three was caught, in uniform, driving a van packed with 24 illegal Mexican immigrants along Interstate 35 in Texas, some 68 miles north of the border. That driver, 26-year-old Pfc. Jose Rodrigo Torres of Laredo, was arrested June 7. His two accomplices, 25-year-old Julio Cesar Pacheco (also of Laredo) and 36-year-old Sgt. Clarence Hodge, Jr. (of Fort Worth), were arrested the following day. The suspects now face a possible federal indictment on smuggling conspiracy charges, which could land them each in prison for up to a decade and cost them as much as $250,000 apiece in fines.

... Most crimes are, by definition, characterized by self-interest and an absence of concern for the ramifications of one’s own actions. And as such, the transgressions of these three national guardsmen are hardly unique. But the fact that the two major players -- Pacheco and Torres -- are Hispanic, may bear some notice. Modern America has fallen under the sway of the leftist notion that people ought to define themselves, first and foremost, not as Americans but rather as members of a particular racial or ethnic group -- “hyphenated Americans,” as the saying goes. Founded on the axiom that the United States is a nation of white oppressors who seek to dominate nonwhites, this mindset has spawned the ever-growing phenomenon of groupthink, where any individual who gives greater allegiance to his country than to his ethnic group is deemed a sort of traitor to his people.

To discern where Pacheco and Torres might possibly have learned such a value system, we needn’t look far. Consider, for a moment, those organizations that are the dominant voices on the issue of “immigrant rights” in America today. Without exception, they promote the idea that shared victim status (as emblemized by skin color and class) far outranks patriotism as a justification for solidarity of purpose. Portraying American society as inherently unjust, these purported guardians of the downtrodden actively encourage illegals to view themselves as combatants in a noble, desperate struggle to win the rights and privileges they are allegedly being denied.

One such organization is MEChA, an umbrella of radical Chicano student groups with a presence on some 300 college campuses across the United States. Embracing the ideology of “Chicanismo,” MEChA holds Chicano purity to be its highest ideal, and views assimilation with “white America” as a betrayal of ethnic heritage. The organization’s slogan -- “Por la Raza todo. Fuera de La Raza nada" -- translates to “For the race, everything. Outside of the race, nothing.” In 1995, UC San Diego’s official MEChA publication printed an editorial characterizing a recently deceased Latino immigration agent as a race traitor who, like “all the migra [a pejorative term for the INS] pigs,” deserved his death. Exhorting students to “constantly remind” Chicano faculty and administrators “where their loyalty lies,” MEChA’s national constitution emphasizes the importance of “politicizing our Raza with an emphasis on indigenous consciousness.” MEChA’s founding manifesto rejects the very notion of respect for U.S. borders -- “We do not recognize capricious frontiers on the bronze continent [the United States]” -- and vows to repel the “brutal ‘gringo’ invasion of our territories.

”The largest Hispanic civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, the National Council of La Raza (NCLR), opposes the REAL ID Act requiring that all driver’s license and photo ID applicants be able to verify that they are legal U.S. residents. It opposes allowing state and local law-enforcement authorities to enforce federal immigration laws. It opposed the “Secure Fence Act of 2006” which authorized 700 miles of new border fencing along the U.S.-Mexico border. Raul Yzaguirre, who was President of NCLR from 1974 to 2004, believes that illegal aliens are best described as “hardworking people who are paying taxes, who are helping this economy.” He opposes the imposition of sanctions against employers who hire illegal immigrants, and in fact rejects the very use of the term “illegal.” Such attitudes proved to be of great benefit to Yzaguirre’s career. On April 12, 2007, Hillary Rodham Clinton named him to co-chair her presidential campaign and to direct her outreach efforts to Hispanic voters.

Another very prominent “immigrant rights” group is the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), which claims a membership of approximately 115,000. In LULAC’s calculus, the movement to establish English as the official language of the United States is “incredibly divisive because it sends the message that the culture of language minorities is inferior and illegal.” Such a policy, warns LULAC, could “fuel the fires of racism” and consequently spark “hate crimes and right wing terrorist attacks.” Advocating amnesty for all illegal aliens, LULAC charges that America’s national security measures since 9/11 “have been focused on terrorizing good people simply because they are foreigners.” LULAC has portrayed the Minuteman Project -- a nonviolent, volunteer effort by private citizens seeking to restrict the flow of illegal immigration -- as “an anti-immigrant group” composed of “racists, cowards, un-Americans [sic], vigilantes, [and] domestic terrorists” who are “often affiliated with white supremacy groups.” Jose Velez, who headed LULAC from 1990 to 1994, claimed that the US. Border Patrol is “the enemy of my people and always will be.

”Perhaps the most influential Hispanic advocacy group in the United States is the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF), which contends that Americans who oppose unrestricted immigration are merely giving expression to their inner “racism and xenophobia.” Advocating “legalization” for all “undocumented persons living and working here in the U.S.,” MALDEF depicts illegal immigrants as the unappreciated “backbone of the U.S. economy.” In the organization’s view, supporters of “English Only” policies are “motivated by racism and anti-immigrant sentiments,” and anyone who opposes the hiring of illegal aliens wishes to discriminate against “brown-skinned people.”

La Voz de Aztlán is the Internet publication of the Nation of Aztlán, a California-based secessionist organization that seeks ultimately to gain, for Mexico, ownership of the Southwestern United States -- territory that it claims was “stolen” by white America. La Voz is intolerant of Latinos who hold views that conflict with its own. One such individual is Linda Chavez, an outspoken opponent of bilingual education and affirmative action. According to La Voz, Chavez is an “extraordinary malinchista” (traitor) and a “coconut” (brown on the outside, white on the inside) similar to “the brutish Jewish female Kapos at Auschwitz who received special favors for sleeping with their Nazi masters.” The publication further likened her to black “Uncle Toms” like Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and “House Niggers” like former UC Regent Ward Connerly (both opponents of affirmative action).

An organization that was particularly active in the massive “immigrant rights” rallies of 2006 was the Mexica Movement (MM), whose central thesis is that European “invaders” unjustly “stole” the North American continent from its rightful owners. MM views existing borders between Canada, the United States, Mexico, and Central America as the arbitrary constructs of squatters who are illegally occupying land that is not rightfully theirs. By this reasoning, white Americans are the real “illegals” -- intruders in a land where they do not rightfully belong. MM counsels its people to steadfastly eschew any impulse to assimilate into America’s illegitimate society or to embrace its inherently corrupt values: “We are educating our people against the ignorant suicidal assimilation into European blood and culture. . . . Assimilation means marrying white to kill the brown in us, to kill the heart of us. Assimilation means the end of us. Assimilation sucks us down into the white race.”

Immigration Bill Hides $1 Trillion Time Bomb

WASHINGTON -- The immigration bill being debated by the Senate would allow more than 2 million illegal workers who received Social Security numbers prior to 2004 to receive more than $966 billion in Social Security benefits by 2040, warns the Senior Citizens League, a 1.2 million-member nonpartisan seniors' advocacy organization based in Alexandria, Va.

Despite a provision in the bill that would prevent individuals who performed illegal work and then obtained a Social Security number after 2007 from receiving credit for Social Security taxes paid in previous years, the legislation, according to the League, does nothing to prevent aliens who illegally obtained "non-work" Social Security numbers prior to 2004 from claiming benefits.
Between 1974 and 2003, the Social Security Administration issued more than seven million "non-work" Social Security numbers, which entitled some foreign nationals – some of whom were illegal aliens – to services such as Medicaid and food stamps, says Mary Johnson, Social Security and Medicare policy analyst for the League.
According to the League, the majority of non-work Social Security numbers were issued during an era of less restrictive immigration policy; in some cases, aliens didn't need proof of citizenship to receive a number. Despite their "non-work" status, the League maintains that millions performed unlawful work, and under the Senate legislation currently being considered, this group would be eligible for Social Security benefits.

We Have More Proof That Hispanic Immigrants Do Not Want To Assimilate

Hispanic Leaders Blast Schwarzenegger's Advice to Turn Off Spanish TV

Some Hispanic leaders lashed out Friday at California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's advice that immigrants should "turn off the Spanish television set" to better learn how to speak English.

Schwarzenegger, who immigrated to the U.S. from Austria, recently told a group of Hispanic journalists that immigrants should stay away from Spanish-language television, books and newspapers.

"You've got to turn off the Spanish television set," Schwarzenegger said Wednesday night at the annual convention of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists in San Jose, Calif. "You're just forced to speak English, and that just makes you learn the language faster."

... Ahnuld, Georgie! - YOU'RE BOTH IDIOTS! We're dealing with the historical Spanish Main here, the Balkanization of North America! These people don't want to learn the language and assimilate! They want possession of North America!

Army Wants To "Hire" Illegals - Can Anyone Say, "Mercenary"?

Bill Carr, acting deputy undersecretary of defense for military personnel policy, expressed hope today during a telephone conference with veterans’ group representatives that a provision in the stalled immigration bill that would have allowed some undocumented aliens to join the military won’t stall as well.
The Army recruited 5,101 active-duty soldiers in May, 399 short of its 5,500-soldier goal, the Defense Department recently announced. The Navy and Air Force, however, both met their May goals, with 2,709 and 2,451 recruits, respectively. The Marine Corps exceeded its May goal by 34 percent, signing on 2,225 new Marines.

The provision at stake is the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors, or DREAM that offered illegal residents a way to join the military and, ultimately, become citizens, Carr explained.

... the U.S. Military has had a long history of allowing foreigners into service, but never at this proposed level. This "DREAM" is a nightmare!

Ingraham Melts Snow In Immigration Smack

Laura Ingraham Audio with Tony Snow
White House spokesman Tony Snow ran into a little more than he perhaps was expecting when he appeared on The Laura Ingraham show, as she relentlessly asked the American public's No. 1 question: What is the U.S. government doing to stop the invasion from Mexico?

"Sixty-nine percent of Americans, 85 percent of the GOP, 55 percent of the Democrats want the border enforced," said Ingraham. "Does that affect you guys, or do you guys just blow it off?"

Snow repeated, several times, the Bush administration's talking points on the issue – how the failed comprehensive immigration reform bill, which fell far short on its last test in the U.S. Senate, would secure the borders, require illegal aliens to pay a fine and require them to "keep their noses clean," and learn English.

But Ingraham, who worked as a speechwriter for two years in the Reagan administration and later served as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas before launching "The Laura Ingraham Show" in 2001, wasn't letting him off the hook.

"Eight-five of the GOP doesn't like what the White House is doing on this," she said. "You're talking the base of this party." But Ingraham, who worked as a speechwriter for two years in the Reagan administration and later served as a law clerk to Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas before launching "The Laura Ingraham Show" in 2001, wasn't letting him off the hook.

... you just gotta love Laura!

Plain Truth From The Grunts; The Most Noble

What Generals, Politicians, and Newsmen don't know; but Soldiers do!
... as printed in, The American Legion, June 2007 issue

Defining the World as only they know it, and indicating the true state of affairs:

Ali Baba - slang for enemy forces. Originated in first Gulf War but can mean a terrorist or enemy in the CENTCOM area.

Haji - slang for an Iraqi, but can mean any Middle Easterner who hails from a predominantly Muslim country.

Badgeless Wonder - refers to someone who doesn't have a security badge and must therefore be escorted around the classified area for an entire work shift. This ticks off the sodier assigned to escort duty.

Back to the taxpayers - Navy slang for where a wrecked aircraft gets sent to.

Bombaconda - slang for LSA Anaconda, a major supply base near Balad, Iraq. Balad is also called "Mortaritaville" because it is frequently hit by rocket and mortar attacks.

CHU - (Containerized Housing Unit) pronounced "choo". These are the global war terrorism's Quonset huts. Essentially, they are mobile homes about the size of a standard shipping container. A CHU is usually divided into 2 or 3 rooms. The containers are vented and have power outlets, and most can be fitted with an air conditioner.

Time Vampire - someone who wastes your time through endless chatter and little productivity. The symbol for a Time Vampire is to slap your watch and hold up your pointed fingers on either side of your mouth like Dracula's fangs.

Semper I - pejorative Marine lingo for being overly concerned with one's own personal interests.
September 10 Americans
- Americans who are "ostriches" and don't want to confront the reality and challenges of the war on terror; mostly, generals, politicians, or newsmen; All Democrats, of course, and President Bush! (added emphasis)

... remember, GOD Loves the Infantry - more "milspeak" can be found here, and, here.

The Lies Continue - Put On Your Rubber Boots!

WASHINGTON — GOP negotiators of an immigration reform bill are crafting a large border security amendment with mandatory, immediate funding that they hope will assuage concerns of both Republicans and Democrats, FOX News has learned.
The senators are looking at a way to please conservatives who are skeptical Congress will ever fund the bill's border security provisions, as well as keep Democratic negotiators on board in a last ditch effort to save the comprehensive reform bill.

It is a political tightrope fraught with peril, but the members know they need more Republican support to break through the log jam.

... more lies, more lies ... Lindsay Graham says, "this $4.4 billion would be borrowed from the Treasury and repaid once the fines and fees from the bill are collected, like the $5,000 fine each illegal has to pay for a work visa, called a "Z visa." Graham said it would be better to do it this way, rather than an emergency funding bill, which goes directly to increasing the deficit. "If you put the money into this bill, it goes a long way toward building confidence," Graham predicted." ... all of this absolute horseshit; no, worse than that; it's absolute rat shit. The $5000.00 will never be paid by these folks, never ever. Lindsay Graham, like the President and Mel Martinez and most of the Senate ARE ALL PATHOLOGICAL LYING BASTARDS!

... we have laws ON THE BOOKS that handle this problem but you PIECES OF SHIT won't ENFORCE THEM! BUILD THE DAMN FENCE!

Bipartisan Betrayal

“Where is the fence?”

By Thomas Sowell
With immigration, as with other issues, the most important decision is: Who is to make the decision?
It should be too obvious for words that decisions about who is to come into the United States and live among Americans should be made in the United States by Americans.
In reality, however, for years that decision has been made in Mexico by Mexicans and by others who chose to cross the border from Mexico into the United States with impunity, knowing that even if they were caught, they would at worst be turned back — and could try again.
Many would not even have to face that. They would be released within the United States, with instructions to report back to the authorities for legal proceedings.
But why should they be expected to obey that legal requirement when they did not obey the law against crossing the border in the first place?
None of these facts is news. Nor is it rocket science to figure out what the consequences have been and will be.
Both political parties know what is going on and both parties choose to see no evil, hear no evil, and speak no evil. Neither wants to risk losing the Hispanic vote, though it is doubtful whether all Hispanics are in favor of open borders.
The net result has been empty promises about controlling the border, paired with various schemes to legalize the illegal immigrants, and washed down with fraudulent statements that insult our intelligence.

Hang 'Em High! - The Death Penalty Works!

Studies: Death Penalty Discourages Crime

Anti-death penalty forces have gained momentum in the past few years, with a moratorium in Illinois, court disputes over lethal injection in more than a half-dozen states and progress toward outright abolishment in New Jersey.

The steady drumbeat of DNA exonerations — pointing out flaws in the justice system — has weighed against capital punishment. The moral opposition is loud, too, echoed in Europe and the rest of the industrialized world, where all but a few countries banned executions years ago.

What gets little notice, however, is a series of academic studies over the last half-dozen years that claim to settle a once hotly debated argument — whether the death penalty acts as a deterrent to murder. The analyses say yes. They count between three and 18 lives that would be saved by the execution of each convicted killer.

America's Best In Education - Homeschoolers!

Top gun homeschool debate kicks off National tournament in Texas - features 'extremely intense' competition!
Well versed in de Tocqueville, Hegel and NATO reform, dressed to impress in their best business suits, they're over-prepared, under-rested and, in many cases, looking forward to getting their driver's permit.

The cream of an incredibly driven crop, these 12-to-18-year-old homeschooled students represent the elite of the National Christian Forensics and Communications Association debate league. Monday, over 530 of their ranks will overrun Belton, Texas, for their own personal Super Bowl: the 8th annual National NCFCA Debate Tournament.
"The competition at nationals is extremely intense," says Dr. Roger Smith, NCFCA board member and regional coordinator. "Only the top 5 percent of competitors from each region is invited to attend, and the field is quickly narrowed to the best of the best." Some 34 states will be represented at nationals this year.

The Politics Of Stupidity Doesn't Look Good In Uniform

You asked, and he listened!

FOX Fan received an overwhelming amount of questions for Col. David Hunt.

It just May Be That The Best Military Minds Are NOT In The Military!

-It took General Abizaid 10 years to be promoted from a LTC to a four-star general. How did that happen? Judging from the results of his command, there were probably more able generals to do the job. Please advise. — Best Regards, Dave

Col. Hunt: Dave, making general in today’s military is more about briefings, degrees, looking good and having the right jobs and knowing almost zero about fighting. Abizaid was always considered smart … too bad he was not considered a fighter, since that is what we need in Iraq.

-My gripe lies with leadership at all levels. Why did it take so long to “surge” in Iraq and to generate an offensive capability? Why are the generals sitting in the Green Zone doing BUBs instead of leading counter-insurgency operations, to target the real enemy — al Qaeda and the source of fundamentalist Islamists that will perpetually continue to generate suicide killers of Americans? Why won’t the president and his cabinet clarify to the public why we’re at war and exactly who we are at war with? — Lou, US Army

Col. Hunt: Lou, thanks for your service. You are describing a total lack of political will and guts. We the people are also to blame for not holding our political leaders accountable. You deserve better ... we all do.

... it goes on and on ... incredible stupid Washington!

... -"1. Why is the military allowing this 'slanted' view, by the politicians and media, without any rebuttal?

2. Why are proven and studied combat tactics not used to overcome the insurgents in Baghdad?

3. When 9-11 occurred, many Vietnam veterans (and subsequent conflicts) volunteered to serve this country again. We were informed we were too old. Subsequently, when this war began, we again volunteered. Again, we're told we are too old. We know how to fight. We have combat experience. We would rather ( I would rather ) go and fight than have my son-in -law there for the second time. I would rather have to live through the nightmares from combat, again, than have my son-in-law have to. I would prefer to die in combat, die for our country, than lose my son-in-law or any other young man or woman. It is viewed we lost Vietnam. The veterans of Vietnam (and subsequent conflicts), contrary to this belief, know how to win if provided the opportunity. What say you?" — Roy

Col. Hunt: Man, are you on target — the last Vietnam guy with any combat has just left. Eldon Bargswell a former SSG with SOG, who won the DCS and they never gave him a Division. This new "star" being talked about Patreaus that allegedly wrote the new counter insurgency manual, is light on combat experience — care to guess why a new counter insurgency manual had to be written? Because the Army discontinued the original version and would not consult with the Special Forces experts at Fort Bragg for help. On the slanted view issue, we suck at public relations in our government and are paying the price.

... we have a hard hoe to row; getting rid of the idiots at home and then defeating the bad guys...!

WashTimes Editorial - Irresponsible Votes Cast By The Senate

As we went to press, the Senate was continuing to debate the "compromise" illegal immigrant amnesty bill, and was preparing to vote on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's amendment cutting off debate. Following are some of the most irresponsible votes cast by the Senate thus far which serve to illustrate the Bush administration's and the Senate majority's approach to immigration policy:

• Granting amnesty to illegal-alien absconders.
On Wednesday, the Senate voted to grant amnesty to hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens who had already been caught and ordered deported but remain in the United States in violation of a court order — something that improves their chances for amnesty (an opportunity they forfeit if they obey the law and leave the United States). It defeated by a 51-46 margin an amendment offered by Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican, that would have barred these illegal aliens from remaining in the United States. The Texas Republican very sensibly argued that these people had shown contempt for the law and should be sent home. Ten Republicans — Sens. Larry Craig (Idaho); Pete Domenici (N.M.); Lindsey Graham (S.C.), Chuck Hagel (Neb.); Dick Lugar (Ind.); Mel Martinez (Fla.); John McCain (Ariz.); Jon Kyl (Ariz.); Arlen Specter (Pa.) and George Voinovich (Ohio) voted against Mr. Cornyn's amendment.

• Refusing to implement basic border security and interior enforcement measures.
The Senate yesterday voted down by a 54-42 margin an amendment sponsored by Sen. Tom Coburn which would have required the Department of Homeland Security to certify that essential measures were enacted before illegal aliens could be granted visas under the bill. The Oklahoma Republican's commonsense proposal would have required the Department of Homeland Security to certify that statutorily required border fencing was in place and that sanctuary cities (jurisdictions which in general refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities) are prohibited. In addition to Mr. Kyl, Republicans who helped kill Mr. Coburn's amendment included Messrs. Lugar; Martinez; Brownback; and Specter.

• Refusing to require that a system to determine whether an alien had left the country be in place before amnesty could take effect.
On Wednesday, the Senate by a 49 to 48 margin voted to kill an amendment by Sen. David Vitter, Louisiana Republican, that would have required the US-VISIT entry-exit system to be in place before the bill's guest-worker and amnesty provisions could take effect. Messrs. Kyl, McCain and Martinez were among the Republicans who provided the margin of defeat for the Vitter amendment.

• Keeping amnesty in the bill.
On May 24, the Senate voted 66 to 29 against an amendment by Mr. Vitter and Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican, to remove amnesty for 12 to 20 million illegal aliens from the bill.

... this fight will have to be fought again!

Bush the Elitist - The Rest of Us Can live In A Roach Motel

By Ann Coulter
FrontPageMagazine.com June 7, 2007

Republicans' defense of President Bush's immigration bill is more enraging than their defense of Harriet Miers. Back then, Bush's conservative base was accused of being sexist for opposing an unqualified woman's nomination to the highest court in the land. Now we're racists for not wanting to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens.

I don't know why conservatives like Linda Chavez have to argue like liberals by smearing their opponents as racists. Oh wait, now I remember! Their arguments are as strong as liberals' arguments usually are.

Apart from abortion, no subject produces so much disingenuousness as America's immigration policy, both legal and illegal. For nearly 50 years, Americans have been intentionally lied to about our immigration laws.

... In Samuel P. Huntington's book Who Are We? The Challenges to America's National Identity, he asks: "Would America be the America it is today if in the 17th and 18th centuries it had been settled not by British Protestants but by French, Spanish or Portuguese Catholics? The answer is no. It would not be America; it would be Quebec, Mexico, or Brazil."

I don't want to live in Mexico, Quebec, or Brazil. But now I guess I have no choice, since "open borders" means I can never leave.

Poor Laura! George Suffering From Dysfunction!

Newt Gingrich described the Bush administration as dysfunctional and its unpopularity as hazardous to those in the Republican Party.
"The government is not functioning. It's not getting the job done," said the former House speaker, who is considering a run for the Republican presidential nomination. "Republicans need to confront this reality."
Gingrich said in a broadcast interview he believes Bush "means very, very well" but falls short when it comes to putting his goals in place and running the government.

"All you have to do is look at the examples I've given you today where the government simply fails," said Gingrich, citing the administration's handling of the war in Iraq, its immigration policies and response to Hurricane Katrina.

"We have to have very relentless, dramatic change in American government," he said.

... go get 'em, Newt!
